Seohyun of Girls' Generation reportedly will be performing the lead role in the new MBC weekend drama with a working title "Thief, Mr. Thief." Apparently, this will be Seohyun's first weekend drama role. Accordingly, it was confirmed on Mar. 15 that Seohyun had finally accepted the female role by portraying Kang So Ju.

The character in the drama, according to Soompi, is a passionate police detective. Kang So Ju, as a policewoman, possesses an overwhelmingly strong sense of justice. The character accordingly is of one who does not worry about her own safety, even when accosting a criminal. She is determined to defend those who cannot protect themselves.

In Allkpop's post, it was reported that SM Entertainment has been approached by MBC regarding the casting of  Seohyun as a female lead of "Thief, Mr. Thief." The story centers on a band of thieves that target individuals in the elite class who use their power to secretly distort Korean society for their own benefit. The drama will have 50 episodes. "Thief, Thief" will accordingly begin airing in May, after the final episode of "Father, I'll Take Care of You."

Seohyun allegedly was an elementary school student when she was discovered by a talent staff while riding in a subway train. She was encouraged to audition for SM Entertainment. In 2003, Seohyun accordingly auditioned and joined the company under the SM Casting System. She was recognized for singing children's songs in her audition, unlike other applicants who sang pop and dance songs.

In 2010, Seohyun was accordingly appointed as Korea's Goodwill Ambassador for Student Fitness by the Seoul Metropolitan Office. She was also appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nation 2012 Yeosu Expo. In the past, she has worked with UNICEF for the "Help Children in Africa" project.
