After starring as a vampire, as a king and countless other roles, and even taking on a villain role in the Hollywood blockbuster franchise "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter," Lee Joon Gi is set to take on a new role. This time, the actor will be starring in a crime procedural.

According to Soompi, Lee Joon Gi recently appeared in a pictorial for Marie Claire Korea and shared his thoughts about his upcoming role. The actor will be one of the lead stars of the Korean version of the ABC crime procedural "Criminal Minds."

Lee Joon Gi said that he will play the role of NCI agent Hyun Joon who will be part of a team of profilers who identify the culprits in various crimes using their expertise in understanding the criminal profile. tVn recently scored the rights to the American franchise which is now on its 12th season in the US.

"Unlike my other projects, I want to show a Lee Joon Gi who is more alive and active as 'Hyun Joon,'" the actor said in the Marie Claire interview. "I am having a good time filming it. I want to surprise the public with new characters every time."

Lee Joon Gi said that he is enjoying the challenge of playing different roles in his projects because he wants to show a different side of his skills to his fans with every outing. In "Criminal Minds," Lee Joon Gi will star alongside an equally talented group of actors with Moon Chae Won, Son Hyun Joo, Yoo Sun, Lee Sun Bin and Go Yoon also on board the project, Korea Portal reported.

"Criminal Minds" is expected to release this July on tVn. The first season is expected to have 20 episodes. "Criminal Minds" follows the list of American series adapted for the Korean audience like "The Good Wife" and "Entourage."
