INFINITE’s Nam Woo Hyun Tops Int’l iTunes Charts with ‘A New Journey’

INFINITE's Nam Woo Hyun delivers a strong solo comeback as his third mini album "A New Journey" topped the iTunes Top Album charts in five different countries including the Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan.

His newest effort, released on May 7, also made it to the Top 10 of the said chart in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Turkey, Greece, and Mexico. Locally, it dominated the album charts Hanteo and Synnara Record.

On the same day, he dropped the music video for the carrier track, "Hold On Me," which features Korean-American rapper Junoflo.

The house-tinged dance track highlights Woo Hyun's musical versatility. As opposed to his previous ballad releases ("If Only You Are Fine" and "Still I Remember"), the song is on the more uptempo side.

The  28-year-old K-pop versatile's latest record is composed of six more tracks, namely "A New Journey," "Rain," "Stranger," "Crying Baby," "Looking At Me," and "Flower."

In a showcase that coincided with the release, he shared that the album indeed marks a "new journey" in his career as a musician.

"It holds a new musical attempt. When you think of me, you may think of a ballad offering first. But this album contains a different attempt and a dance track. It also signifies my desire to go on a new journey with you all," he said, adding that enjoyed preparing the album.

"I hope you focus on the fact that I'm not only able to perform ballads but other genres as well. I did my best to make it despite the uncertainties of how it will be received. I ask for your warm interest," he further added.

When asked about working with Junoflow, Woo Hyun has nothing but praise for his collaborator.

"While working with him at the recording studio, I noticed that he is a very cheerful person. He also really seemed like a genius when he understands what I mean when I tell him something. I thought to myself that he was truly born to rap. His flow is also great," the INFINITE main vocalist remarked.

On May 9, he is set to kick off his promotional efforts for the album with his performance of "Hold On Me" on Mnet's M Countdown's comeback stage.
