K-pop is on a whole other level when it comes to award shows. Annually, different music-related organizations and companies hold award shows that invite artists and idols to perform and grant them various awards such as Song of the Year. Each show has their own different criteria in announcing winners, which vary depending on the percentage. But usually, they rely on online voting, digital sales and scores garnered from accredited judges in the entertainment industry.

This list of 2010-2020 Song of the will be based on the Golden Disc Awards which is a major music award show in South Korea. It held its 34th show at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul from January 4th - 5th.

During the 2010 Golden Disc Awards, the digital daesang or Song of the Year was awarded to 2AM's "Can't Let You Go Even If I Die."

The 26th Golden Disc Awards accounted for both 2011 and 2012 Song of the Year which was given to Girls' Generation and their song "The Boys," which was also the name of their 3rd Korean studio album.

Psy's "Gangnam Style" was renowned throughout the world, which is why it wasn't a shocker that it won Song of the Year during the 2013 Golden Disc Awards. The next year, Psy won Song of the Year once again during the 28th Golden Disc Awards with his song "Gentleman." Psy is the only artist to this day to be awarded back-to-back Song of the Year awards for two consecutive GDA shows.

During the 2015 Golden Disc Awards, the digital daesang was given to BIGBANG's Taeyang who released his solo song titled "Eyes, Nose, Lips."

Noticeably, it was the following year when BIGBANG was granted the same award as Taeyang. Their song "Loser" was announced as the Song of the Year during the 30th Golden Disc Awards.

After four consecutive years of having male artists and idols snatch the digital daesang, finally, a girl group broke the streak. During the 2017 Golden Disc Award, the winner of Song of the Year was JYP Entertainment's newest girl group TWICE with their song "Cheer Up" which had a catchy melody and trendy dance moves that went viral not just in Korea but worldwide as well.

"Through the Night" by the singer-songwriter and actress IU was announced as 2018 Song of the Year during the 32nd Golden Disc Awards. "Through the Night" is her lead single from her album "Palette" and marked her return to the music industry, the song topped in all major music sites at the time of its release.

YG Entertainment's iKON was formed in 2015 through the survival reality program WIN: Who is Next. They were awarded Digital Song of the Year during the 33rd Golden Disc Award with their hit song "Love Scenario."

Last but not least is "Boy with Luv" by best-selling artist BTS. The track won the 2020 Song of the Year during the most recent 34th Golden Disc Awards. "Boy with Luv" has two versions, the original one and the one featuring the American singer Halsey.
