This month of May, K-pop enthusiasts have been welcomed by several comeback dates and groups who are set to debut. So far, this is the most jam-packed month for the K-pop industry, following the lockdown due to the pandemic. As South Korea has flattened its coronavirus curve, multiple groups are pushing through their schedules and activities that were held back.
Unfortunately, along with these exciting announcements are also the sad news that K-pop fans try their best to steer clear of. This is because some of their favorite male idols are already called to serve in the military, and sadly, lots of K-pop idols will be enlisting this May.
BTOB's Yook Sungjae (May 11)

In March, Cube Entertainment confirmed that actor and BOTB's Yook Sungjae would be bidding his goodbye in SBS's "Master in The House." Fans are surprised, but some think that it is due to his upcoming military enlistment. On May 3, Sungjae revealed his enlistment date, which will take place on May 11. However, he affirmed fans that they will be meeting again, and asked them to support his upcoming project, "Mystic Pop-Up Bar."
BTOB's Im Hyunsik (May 11)

Following Sungjae's announcement, Cube Entertainment revealed that the idol will be enlisting on the same date as his co-member and will be serving as an active-duty soldier.
As per the idol's wish, the agency informed fans that the location and time of his enlistment would not be revealed.
PENTAGON's Jin Ho (May 11)

It seems like Pentagon's fans will be missing Jin Ho's majestic voice for a while after announcing his military enlistment date that will be on May 11 as well. He is currently competing for a music show, "Road to Kingdom," but due to his sudden enlistment, the group will be continuing as a seven-member group temporarily.
EXO's Suho (May 14)

Suho, EXO's leader, confirmed to be serving the military as well. He dropped his solo debut mini-album, titled "Self- Portrait" on March 30, which was dedicated to his fans as a gift. The time and place will not be disclosed as well. Suho is the third member of EXO to enlist after Xiumin and D.O.
BLOCK B's U-Kwon (May 18)

On May 8, BLOCK B's U-Kwon is the fifth male idol of the month in this list to be enlisting. According to KQ Entertainment, U-Kwon is preparing to enter the base on May 18, who will be the fourth member to serve the country, following members Jaehyo (discharged in Decmember 2019), Taeil and B-Bomb.
Here are the male idols who will be serving the military, though the list may change depending on the further announcement.
Military enlistment is a mandatory responsibility of Korean males, and this includes K-pop stars.
