Goo Hara's Dad Talks About The Late Idol's Diary Entry Saying Her Mom Cheated on Him WIth Several Men
In a previously aired episode of JTBC's "Spotlight," the program revealed some of Goo Hara's diary entries. During the episode, the late idol's father was also interviewed.
In one of the entires Goo Hara said that when she was a kid, her mother would take her to dates. Because of this, Hara's father opened up about how her mother cheated on him with multiple partners.
Miss Song, Goo Hara's mother, left their family without any explanation. She just left and never contacted them until after Hara's passing wherein she was trying to claim half the late singer's inheritance.
Goo Hara's dad said that she didn't want to divorce their mom early on, but because of the different men she was with, it eventually caused trouble, which also harmed Mr. Goo, so he agreed with the divorce.
"I didn't want to give her a divorce; I was just planning to live without ever talking to her. But her life became too complicated, she had too many men, and I was dragged into it, so I decided to give her a divorce," explained Hara's dad. But even during the divorce proceedings, Miss Song didn't, not once, bothered to see her children.
"She didn't argue with parental rights; she just gave it up. When the judge asked if she wanted rights over the children, she immediately said no. That's when I said I'll take all the parental rights. After the hearing, that was the last time I saw her." Mr. Goo shared as he recalls how Hara's mom gave up her parental rights without a fight. After that, Mr. Goo raised Hara and Ho In all by himself.
However, when the JTBC team reached miss Song, Hara's mother said that she decided to leave because her husband threatened to kill her. "I wanted to see my children, but I was scared of their dad. They all said I left because I cheated, but it's not true. He tried to kill me with a kitchen knife," Hara's mom shared. "Up to this day, whenever I think about those days, I still get anxiety," she continued.
Contrarily, Hara's diary entries coincided with her father's statement. She wrote in one entry that her mother would even bring her to dates with several men. "How can you take me with you while you were cheating with dad?" Hara's diary entry said.
One of the late singer's close friends since elementary also confirmed that Hara's mom did cheat. Hara's friend, Miss Kim, said, "We were only in kindergarten and elementary when her mother would always be seen with various men."
Hara's brother, Goo Ho In, also said that what they're mother was saying is impossible. Their dad was busy traveling for work, trying to make ends meet for their family, so there was no way he could've hurt her. "Besides, if she wanted to see us, there were many ways for her to do so," Ho In said.
Miss Song also shared how she got broke after the divorce and didn't have money to see her kids, which seemed like another lie since Hara said in an interview that when she was looking for her mom, she found out that she was living only 10 minutes away from her. She was also bragging at how famous her daughter is. If she wanted to see her kids, especially Hara, it would've been easy and possible.
Meanwhile, Goo Ho In is in a legal battle against their mother for Hara's inheritance. Hara's dad also said in the interview how upset he is with what's happening and that he's still grieving the loss of his one and only daughter. When he misses Goo Hara, he just tells himself that she's in Japan on tour. This way, Hara remains to be alive in his memory forever. "It's much easier to think that she's in Japan than in heaven. It comforts me and makes me think that she's still alive."
