TREASURE Sets Newest Record as YG Entertainment's Artist With Highest Preorder Sales
The number of preorders for the first single album of the newest YG boy group, TREASURE, which has yet to make theirr debut, has increased to more than 150,000 sales!
YG Entertainment announced on the 3rd that it had produced 50,000 more preorders for Treasure's first single album "THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER ONE," increasing the number of preorders to more than 150,000. This is due to a surge in preorders in China following Japan. This is the best new album in YG's history.
TREASURE is YG's first group in four years since BLACKPINK. Their first single album had 100,000 preorders in just two days. According to the interim tally of preorders, purchases from Japan accounted for a significant portion of the sales. Plus, orders from China are also surging.
"Although there are many preorders in China and Japan; outside of Korea, requests for album purchases are also active in various countries, including the U.S. and Southeast Asia," said a YG official said. "We realize the global popularity of Treasure," he added.
Treasure is composed of 12 members: Choi Hyun-seok, Ji Hoon, Yoshi, Jun Kyu, Masiho, Yoon Jae-hyuk, Bang Ye-dam, Doyoung, Haruto, Park Jung-woo, So Jung-hwan, and they will cast their votes to target the global market. They will release their debut single album at 6:00 p.m. on the 7th and start activities to the fullest.

Recently, TREASURE released their MV debut teaser, which features different concepts and highlighting every member of the boy band. A behind-the-scenes video was also unveiled to showcase how each member had fun during the MV's completion.
The 12 boys that were initially called TREASURE 13 were formed from "YG Treasure Box," a reality survival show that was aired in 2019. The set of young males was supposed to debut last year, but then surmounting controversies of their label have pushed the company to have them stay at the back for some time. Ha Yoonbin left the group before debut, thus prompting the management to call them 'TREASURE' instead of their former name.
The boyband's debut has long been overdue, and fans have been quite frustrated after delays following the South Korean entertainment realm opting to postpone activities to give way to the healing of the nation from the current pandemic.
