SEVENTEEN S.Coups is Seriously Considering Changing His Stage Name

On October 18, Sunday, at 3 PM KST, SEVENTEEN held a question and answer (Q&A) with #TwitterBlueRoom to promote the release of their upcoming special album "; [Semicolon]" on October 19, Monday. There, leader S.Coups revealed that he is considering changing his stage name.

During the live stream, S.Coups revealed he has major concerns with his stage name. He revealed that despite how long he has been in the industry, people continue to get his stage name wrong. Because of that, he is currently debating whether he should change his stage name to simply Coups instead.

S.Coups himself chose his stage name. The S in S.Coups stands for his real name, Sungcheol. Coups refer to the French phrase, "coup d'état", which literally translates to "blow of state".

Coups is a nickname that fans and even the members call S.Coups. While he said that he enjoys the fun nicknames he receives from fans and online netizens, his concern stems from when he does official events and activities and people get his name wrong due to how difficult it is to remember. He revealed that whenever someone gets his name wrong, even if he has been active as an idol for five years, he can't help but get upset.
