Arirang Radio Set To Celebrate 17th Year Anniversary With Special Online Performances + Announces Lineup
On the 19th October, 2020, Arirang Radio, the first English radio broadcaster in Korea, announced that it will hold an online performance titled "WORLD X TOGETHER" for two hours starting from 6 PM KST on the 24th to celebrate its 17th anniversary. It was founded by the Korea International Broadcasting Foundation in 1996. It receives government subsidies. Arirang Radio can be accessed through Jeju FM, Arirang Cast, smart phone applications (IOS/Android) and on air service on Arirang's website.
In this performance, the hip-hop group Dynamic Duo celebrated its 20th anniversary, and Kim Jun-soo, who received the Best Actor Award at the Korean Musical Awards, the group's first units ASTRO, Moonbin & Sanha, and the rookie girl group Weeekly will be appearing.
Dynamic Duo is a South Korean hip hop duo that consists of rappers Choiza and Gaeko. They rose to fame with their 2004 debut album, Taxi Driver, which became the best-selling Korean hip hop album ever. They are signed to Amoeba Culture, a hip hop record label that they founded in 2006.
Weeekly is a South Korean girl group launched by Play M Entertainment. The group is Play M Entertainment's second girl group in 10 years, after Apink. The group consists of seven members; Soojin, Jiyoon, Monday, Soeun, Jaehee, Jihan, and Zoa. The group debuted on June 30, 2020, with their debut EP, We Are.
ASTRO Moonbin and Sanha are the first sub-unit from the group. On September 14, 2020, Astro Moonbin & Sanha released their first extended play, titled a Bad Idea. They received an award from the Korean music show "The Show," marking their first award as a sub-unit and third win as Astro.
