BLACKPINK's recent single "Ice Cream", featuring Selena Gomez, hit 350 million views!

South Korean girl group BLACKPINK and American artist Selena Gomez joined forces to release the track "Ice Cream" along with its music video on August 28. The song was later on included in the group's first full album called "The Album," which was unveiled on October 2.

On October 19, "Ice Cream" becomes BLACKPINK's eighth music video to achieve the breakthrough, following the group's previous songs such as "Playing With Fire," "Whistle," "BOOMBAYAH," "As If It's Your Last," "DDU-DU DDU-DU," "Kill This Love," and "How You Like That."

The featured artist, Selena Gomez, took part in writing the song, along with several significant people such as Teddy, Ariana Grande, Tommy Brown, Victoria Monet, 24, Bekuh Boom, and Steven Franks. "Ice Cream" is described as a bubblegum pop and electropop song with a little bit of trap.

Roughly one day and 16 hours after the release of the track's official music video, it already exceeded 100 million views. And to celebrate the achievement, YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK's agency, uploaded a photo along with a message thanking BLINKs (fan club name) all over the world who gave full support and love for "Ice Cream."

Besides hitting such views, BLACKPINK's song took the No. 13 spot on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming the group's first single to be included in the top-twenty of the said chart. The track also made its way to the top-ten charts of Hungary and Singapore, the top-twenty in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and the top-forty in the United Kingdom, Lithuania, and Ireland. What's more, "Ice Cream" peaked at No. 8 in South Korea in its second week.

On top of that, "Ice Cream" became BLACKPINK's fifth single to enter the top 40 in the UK, thus making them the Korean act to have the most number of top 40 songs in the chart history of the United Kingdom. It also became the second-longest-charting single by an all-female South Korean girl group in the UK chart.

After more than a month, the successful K-Pop female act released its very first Korean studio album called "The Album" featuring the main single "Lovesick Girls" on October 2. "The Album" debuted at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 and the Official Albums Chart in the UK, hailing BLACKPINK as the highest-charting Korean girl group on the said charts. The new album also attains a first-week album sales record for a K-Pop female band, obtaining approximately 590,000 copies sold only in one day after it was released.

As of October 19, the music video for "Lovesick Girls" has already reached more than 150 million views and is trending at No. 25 on YouTube. BLACKPINK members Jennie and Jisoo took part in the lyric-writing process of the song, which is defined as an electropop and dance-pop with an EDM sound and acoustic guitar. The track expresses pain after a breakup.

Moreover, the group's first documentary entitled "BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky," was shown on Netflix on October 14.
