SM Entertainment To Debut New Girl Group in November

SM Entertainment announced the surprise debut of their new girl group to be in November 2020. Learn more about the group and some potential members here!

SM Entertainment released a video teaser and image for their upcoming girl group on their official social media accounts and YouTube channel on October 26, 2020, Monday, announcing their upcoming debut.

The group name is Aespa, a combination of æ, which is meant to express "Avatar x Experience' and the English word 'aspect', which boasts the duality of the girl group.

Fans have high expectations for the upcoming girl group, with people expecting their performance to showcase something innovative to showcase the colors of the groups well. The group's concept is, "meeting another version of yourself, Avatar, and experiencing a new word."

Additionally, Aespa plans to release various contents that introduce each member and their skills, hobbies, background, and more. As they start with the group logo today, fans can expect more information to drop about the group in the upcoming days.

Korean netizens have speculated that current SM Rookies Ningning will be joining the girl group's line-up. Ningning was introduced as a member of SM Rookies back on September 19, 2016, and has been training for over four years. She is the last remaining member of SM Rookies. She is Chinese and was born and raised in Harbin. She was born on October 23, 2002.

Before being announced as a member of SM Rookies, Ningning appeared on the Chinese show "Let's Sing Kids" alongside NCT Dream's Chenle. She is one of SM Entertainment's most famous female trainees.

Another famous trainee that could be making her debut with Aespa is Yoo Jimin. The female idol appeared on Taemin's "Want" music video and is active as a trainee and back-up dancer for SM Entertainment artists. She is a 2000 liner. Previously, she was wrapped up in a scandal after text messages from a friend were leaked showing the trainee insulting NCT, BTS, and EXO. SM Entertainment announced that they will be taking legal action against any false rumors concerning Yoo Jimin.
