TREASURE Set to Come Back With Third Single Album in November
TREASURE is set to make their third comeback this year!
On October 26 at midnight KST, YG Entertainment's new boy group uploaded a teaser poster regarding their third single album on their official SNS. Based on the poster, TREASURE is about to return with "The First Step: Chapter Three on November 6.
The label previously shared that the genre of the third single album will be different from the first two ones. The music video for the upcoming release will be directed by Seo Hyun, who has been working on BLACKPINK's MVs.
The group's upcoming single album is part of their 'The First Step' series, which started on August 7, which is their debut date. On that day, TREASURE released their very first single album titled "The First Step: Chapter One that includes the only song "Boy. It exceeded 170,000 pre-orders within a few days since its announcement before the release of the physical album. Considering this, TREASURE became the best-selling South Korean new-coming artist in 2020.
On September 18, the boy group launched their second single album "The First Step: Chapter Two with the lead song "I Love You. Following this release, TREASURE earned the title 'Half a Million Seller' with the collected sales of the two single albums. Meanwhile, the lead single took the No. 1 spot on the monthly chart of Rakuten Music.
Besides completing the 'The First Step' series with the launching of the third single album in November, TREASURE will also be releasing a full album before this year ends. According to YG Entertainment, numerous music producers are giving much attention to TREASURE. And so, the agency decided to launch the group's very first full album in early December, following "The First Step: Chapter Three.
TREASURE was formed through a reality-survival program called 'YG Treasure Box,' which started airing in September 2018. The show consists of 29 male trainees, and in its final episode 13 members were carefully chosen. Haruto, Junghwan, Yedam, Junkyu, Jeongwoo, Hyunsuk, and Jaehyuk were the ones first introduced under the sub-unit name, Treasure.
On January 29, 2019, the second half of the group were announced - Doyoung, Yoonbin, Yoshinori, Mashiho, Asahi, and Jihoon with the sub-unit name, Magnum. All 13 members were supposed to be debut under the name TREASURE 13, however, Yoonbin concluded his exclusive contract with YG Entertainment on December 31, 2019 as according to the company, he wants to pursue a different music career like being a solo artist. Hence, the two units were permanently combined and are now called TREASURE.
Ahead of the group's debut with "The First Step: Chapter One on August 7, TREASURE was re-introduced to the public through weekly photoshoots and performance videos including the track "Going Crazy" from YG Treasure Box, as well as releasing variety programs including Treasure Map and T.M.I via YouTube. While they still haven't debuted, the group was considered as the fastest Korean act to land on Billboard's Social 50 at No. 40 on May 27, then they took the No. 12 spot on August 4.
