The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. (KCCDC) proudly presents Og by the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company (KNCDC) as the third installment of the K-Dance NOW virtual performance series, available online for just 48 hours starting Friday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Og delves into the physics and psychology of falling, failure, and recovery, themes that often define the human experience.

A simple falling trust exercise provides a familiar and intuitive choreographic starting point for Og, which explores the increasingly extreme possibilities of human motion under the effects of gravity. Four male dancers gradually push the boundaries of this theme beyond measure to reveal how all thing, in time, becomes part of a greater balance of opposing forces. The captivating music duo Kuang Program provides live accompaniment as well, elevating the performance to a new level of unpredictability, sensuousness, and innate emotion.

Og evolved into a revised standalone performance after its selection as winning entry in KNCDC's annual choreography competition and repertory development project Step Up in 2018, that version in turn having been based on choreographer Jeong Cheolin's 2014 work Free Fall, which also dealt with the physics of falling and repetition.

This latest 2019 performance, focused and refined, is recomposed to fine tune the natural senses of speed, weightiness, friction, gravity, elasticity, and centrifugal and centripetal forces that the dance evokes.

To view the performance, visit the KCCDC website at washingtondc.korean-culture.org and see the program listing under Performing Arts, or go directly to www.vimeo.com/466266589 during the viewing period. View a preview trailer now at www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrdG7EgJatw.
