ONCEs Trend #TWICEdeservesRESPECT Defending TWICE From Malicious Comments
On November 2, Monday, ONCEs started trending the hashtag #TWICEdeservesRESPECT on Twitter, calling out the bullying TWICE has endured for the past months and defending the girls from the unnecessary hate. Read more about it here.
Over the past few months, hate comments for TWICE has been increasing despite how the group has stayed out of any major controversies and scandals. People have noticed that the people who target TWICE appear to be antis pretending to be BLACKPINK fans, which has also smeared BLINKs reputation.
The antis are using TWICE's mental health against them, slamming the member for taking mental health breaks and making fun of specifically Mina and Jeongyeon for their anxiety. Many are saying that they are attention-seeking, while others are calling them having anxiety "funny". Some have even told the girls to do harmful things to themselves.
Other comments claim the girls are not skilled and have no talents. Antis accused TWICE of lip-syncing all their performances and claim the group does not care enough about bettering themselves. They also said that the only reason TWICE won a daesang at the Mnet Asian Music Awards is because BLACKPINK was not in attendance and that if BLACKPINK had been there, they would have taken the award from TWICE.
Other hate comments go over the line, with many being sexual harassment. The more extreme comments ask that the girls get r*ped, with others insinuate that the girls are sexually active and promiscuous. All of these are serious allegations and could face legal action from JYP Entertainment.
Many comments compare BLACKPINK's achievements with TWICE's achievements. It is known that BLACKPINK is doing very well now, especially internationally. TWICE, on the other hand, has most of their success in South Korea and Japan, as they tend to focus on domestic activities and are just starting to have some activities in the West.
Still, the antis who pretend to be BLINKs are using their success as a way to hate on TWICE. Some say that TWICE are 'flops' because they have yet to crack the Billboard Hot 100 Charts and bash certain members. Some are saying that Momo, TWICE's main dancer, is not as talented as Lisa. Some are also accusing TWICE of sagaeji, or manipulating the charts.
