This will be G-Dragon's first album since his mandatory military enlistment. He last had a solo comeback in 2017 with 'Kwon Ji Young,' which was a massive success. The album topped 36 countries and is currently his best-selling album to date. The album exceeded a million copies sold in just six days, making it the fastest album to do so and ended up becoming the best-selling album of the year.

BIGBANG's last musical release was in 2018 with the single 'Flower Road.' The song was released as a goodbye to the fans, as four of the then-5 five members would be undergoing their mandatory military service, meaning the group would be going on a lengthy hiatus. The song topped the Billboard's World Digital Service.

G-Dragon entered the military in February 2018 and was discharged in October 2019. This means he was out of the military for over a year before news of new music. When the Korean news media outlets announced G-Dragon's comeback, many had dubbed him the original king of K-pop.

While many international fans agreed with the statement, Korean netizens were not impressed. Many believed he was undeserving of the title 'king''. Numerous netizens also mentioned G-Dragon's marijuana scandal back in 2011, where G-Dragon was accused of taking marijuana and tested positive twice.

"King? Did you mean the drug king? Do not overuse the word 'king'; he does not deserve it."

"Who is the king? Him? How can reporters even say that?"

"The return of the real king? LOL, he gets cursed out even more because of articles like this."

"What the hell are you talking about? I hate him even more now that he is being called that."

"The return of the king? Is this not the return of a criminal?"

"The return of the real king? Are they saying there is a fake king?"

"The return of the drug king."

"Wow, how does he still have so many fans?"

However, there are some Korean netizens who are looking forward to his comeback, with many agreeing that he has good music. Though G-Dragon and BIGBANG have been the center of controversy in K-pop, it is undeniable that their music is well-loved, consistently topping the charts.
