EXO Baekhyun is welcoming 2021 with a solo debut in Japan!

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, the male idol announced that he would be releasing his solo mini-album in Japan on January 20, 2021. The album is titled "Baekhyun" and is composed of six songs including, "Get You Alone."  Other songs included in the album are "Addicted," "WHIPPIN," "Drown," "Disappeared," and "Stars."

Each album rendition of the six songs would include photo cards, lyric booklets, posters, and more. The albums will cost ¥ 3,500 (33 USD), excluding tax.

While this is Baekhyun's first time to launch a solo mini-album in Japan, EXO had released other Japanese songs before. In November 2015, the K-Pop boy group debuted in Japan with the single "Love Me Right" (romantic universe), which consists of the Japanese track "Drop That" and the Japanese rendition of "Love Me Right."

In January 2018, EXO dropped their first Japanese studio album entitled "Countdown," featuring its lead single 'Electric Kiss.' The album debuted at No. 1 on Oricon's weekly chart, making EXO the first non-Japanese act whose debut track and album took first place on the said chart. In addition, 'Countdown' was certified Gold after reaching more than 100,000 copies within just 10 days following its release.

Baekhyun is the third EXO member to make his solo debut, following Chen and Suho. He released his debut extended play titled 'City Lights' on July 10, 2019. The EP features six tracks, notably "UN Village," the lead single, "Stay Up,' 'Betcha," "Ice Queen," "Diamond," and "Psycho."

The lead single "UN Village" is a romantic R&B love song with a combination of string sound and groovy beats. It is about an intimate moment a couple of shares under a night sky on UN Village hill.

Moreover, the EP sold more than 550,000 copies, becoming the highest sales of a solo artist on South Korea's Gaon Music Chart. Not to mention, it became the best-selling album of a solo artist in South Korea in the 2010s.

In May this year, EXO Baekhyun launched his second EP called "Delight.' It contains seven tracks, particularly "Candy," EP's lead single, "R U Ridin'?" "Bungee," "Underwater," "Poppin," "Ghost," and "Love Again."

The pre-order sales of 'Delight' have exceeded 732,297 and recorded the highest pre-order sales by a solo artist in South Korean history. Other than that, it took the No. 1 spot on iTunes in 69 countries and debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard World Album Chart. EXO Baekhyun also earned Triple Platinum certification for "Delight." Furthermore, it became the best-selling album of May 2020 after selling a total of 660,000 copies.
