When the general population thinks about lithium batteries, fun facts are probably the last thing they think about. There are many interesting facts about this technology millions of people use every single day.

  1. Lithium batteries can be found in almost every device that works without cables, or in devices that are recharged and each of us has at least one device. Such devices include mobile phones, laptops, cameras, wireless vacuum cleaners, smartwatches, tablets, electric bicycles, electric scooters, wireless headphones, e-cigarettes, electric toothbrushes, solar panel aggregators, electric cars, and many more.

  2. Lithium batteries like LG hg2 have replaced alkaline batteries mostly for safety, as they are much safer to use. Although lithium batteries are much safer, they can still overheat, crack and explode. To make sure this doesn't happen, make sure you don't leave your devices on chargers unattended. Also, be sure to turn off your devices during an aeroplane flight as the pressure during the flight can also lead to an explosion and fire.

  3. A recent discovery by scientists at the Institute of Technology in Masecusets showed that lithium-ion batteries last longer after being exposed to viruses. Why someone tested battery life after viral exposure is still unknown.

  4. Lithium batteries last longer, especially as they are rechargeable, but everything still has a lifespan. After the battery leaves the factory and the controlled environment in which the batteries were protected, the batteries immediately start to wear out, especially if their protective foil is damaged or removed. When buying lithium-ion batteries and if you want them to last even longer, look at the battery life and make sure they are in their original packaging.

  5. Lithium batteries do not lose their capacity during wear or discharge of the battery, ie the appliance or device in which the battery is located will not lose its power. While with ordinary batteries, the device or appliance loses its power capacity which can affect performance. Imagine that you have ordinary batteries in your electric car and that during discharging the same the car starts to lose power.

  6. Lithium-ion batteries are rechargeable, and each lithium battery has an average of about 600 charges before the performance starts decreasing.

  7. Most lithium-ion batteries have temperature sensors, a voltage converter, a voltage tap and a charging monitor installed to prevent overheating and short circuits.

  8. Lithium-ion batteries are mostly flat-shaped (used in mobile phones, newer generation laptops), but it is not the only shape. Such flat batteries are called Pouch. Did you know that laptops of the older generation have a completely different shape, small and cylindrical? Other forms are large cylindrical battery and prismatic battery.

  9. The battery for mobile phones will last longer if you always keep the battery capacity between 40% to 80% than to allow it to completely discharge and charge from 0%.

  10. The largest lithium battery is called a Powerwall manufactured by Tesla. Primarily, they wanted to make a battery as a charging station for electric cars that will be charged via solar panels or sunlight, but this battery is also used in households for electricity supply, which reduces the emissions of power plants. It is excellent as a replacement for generators in case of power outages during storms.

Why lithium-ion batteries are better than regular batteries

1. The operating voltage of the battery is three times higher than that of ordinary batteries.

2. Battery life is 500 to 2000 times longer than ordinary alkaline batteries.

3. Lithium-ion batteries do not pollute the environment.

4. Fast charging these batteries for 10 minutes can charge them up to 80%.

5. These batteries can operate at temperatures from -25C to + 45C.
