BTS is The 'Best Group' at 2020's People Choice Awards! + Sweeps Three Other Trophies
BTS swept every title they were nominated for!
On Monday, the world-renowned K-pop band BTS delightedly took home four awards, including the "Best Group" title during the annual People's Choice Awards!
The ceremony was held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, where various awards were given to numerous star-studded personalities, including Ariana Grande, Cardi B, Justin Bieber, and BTS.
The global singers won four awards, which 'Best Group,' 'Best Album,' 'Best Song,' and 'Best Song,' highlighting their track "Dynamite" and the recent album "MAP OF THE SOUL:7" that was released in August and January, respectively.
Meanwhile, during their acceptance speech, broadcasted through a video, BTS expressed their sincere thanks to fans, particularly to ARMY (BTS fandom), and dedicated their music to those who are having a hard time current pandemic and unfortunate events this year.
The group also said, "This year was tough for everyone. It was the same for us, but instead of stopping, we stay on track with what we could do well, and that's music. Life will continue. Thank you to those who listened to our music, and we hope that our music will accompany you as you go on and live on."
On the other hand, the septet continues to take on domestic and international charts to break their persona. On the same day, BTS became the first group to have their song, "Dynamite" spends their 10th week at the No. 1 spot for MelOn, one of Korea's most popular music charts.
Their track, "Spring Day," also maintained its position at the MelOn Top 100, the longest-charting song of all-time on the platform for 196 weeks.
As for the Genie music chart, BTS' "Dynamite" now surpassed TWICE's "Cheer Up" as the song with most hours spent at Genie Top 5, recording 2,014 hours and counting writing. Moreover, at the '2020 MTV EMA', BTS previously landed on four titles for 'Best Song,' 'Best Group,' 'Biggest Fans,' 'Best Virtual Live)' which also gained them the honors for 'Most Crowns' this year. At the '2020 Billboard Music Awards', BTS was awarded the top Social Artist' for four consecutive years.
Fans and supporters of the K-pop group were indeed proud of BTS' success and popularity, which is capturing the attention of various international awards ceremony and gaining the attention of supporters of the prestigious Grammy. The anticipation of whether they will win an award or be nominated spiked when they topped Billboard's Hot 100 through their song 'Dynamite,' for two consecutive times, the first Korean artist to achieve the record and third Asian act since 2010.
Earlier, Asia Artist Awards confirmed through Naver that BTS will also two trophies for 'Male Idol Popularity' and 'Best of Best' awards, securing their spot with over 7 billion accumulated votes.
On top of their fame, BTS will release a new album (BE Deluxe Edition)' at the same time around the world on Nov. 20. A live broadcast titled "Live Goes On" is also set to happen on their comeback date, a commemoration of their return.
