Lee Soo Man Comments on J.Y. Park Auditioning for SM Entertainment
On a recent appearance on "Nobody Talks to BoA," Lee Soo Man, the founder and former CEO of SM Entertainment, commented on J.Y. Park's past comments on auditioning for the agency. Keep on reading to learn more about this.
For the teaser of the show, the mention of the rise in disco-themed songs is mentioned. Naturally, J.Y. Park gets mentioned, as he has produced and released many successful songs in the said genre. During the episode, Lee Soo Man proudly compares himself to the JYP Entertainment founder, saying, "I'm confident that I'm more of a producer than Park Jinyoung (J.Y. Park's real name)."
This led BoA to ask if there was something that J.Y. Park was better at him in. Lee Soo Man then confessed that he thought the JYP Entertainment founder is a better dancer than him.
The discussion concerning J.Y. Park led Lee Soo Man to mention how J.Y. Park has often mentioned that he auditioned for SM Entertainment but failed. Lee Soo Man then revealed that it was not SM Entertainment that did not choose him - it was actually J.Y. Park who chose not to go to SM Entertainment.
He said:
"He always appears on TV shows and tells people I didn't select him during his audition with the company. It is not true that he did not make the cut. He was actually the one who did not return for another round of auditions. Who comes to an audition only once and never comes back?"
Lee Soo Man ends on a comedic note, however, saying that if J.Y. Park wanted to audition, Lee Soo Man would let him in!
"If he's still willing to audition," he said. "I'd be happy to accept it."
Back in the Dec. 7, 2019 broadcast of KBS's "Immortal Song," J.Y. Park revealed that he tried hard to audition in the past but failed every chance he took. He said that he saw SM Entertainment as his last chance at the time, but he failed that audition too.
He then shocked fans when he revealed that though he failed the audition, Lee Soo Man asked if he would sell him the song he used for his audition.
He said:
"I failed every audition I tried out for. I had one last chance with SM Entertainment, but I failed that audition too, so I was really disappointed. However, even when I was eliminated, Lee Soo Man asked if I was willing to sell my song to him."
It seems he has been gifted another chance by Lee Soo Man to join the company he wanted, SM Entertainment! Though funny, if he's to push through with his auditions, there is no need. J.Y. Park, also known as Park Jinyoung, is the proud owner of his own company, JYP Entertainment.
Besides being the owner of the label, he is also an artist under his company and has dropped many chart-topping songs. His most recent release is "When We Disco" with former JYP Entertainment artist, Sunmi.
