Three More K-Pop Groups Join the Lineup for 'Melon Music Awards 2020'

Three more South Korean groups have been added to this year's Melon Music Awards (MMA).

Earlier this month, it was announced that BTS will be attending the said awarding ceremony once again. The boy group put on an outstanding stage, which took three months to prepare, and bagged all four Daesangs (grand prizes) at Melon Music Awards last year.

On Nov. 20, JYP's boy band DAY6 (Even of Day), as well as Jang Beom June, were confirmed to perform for MMA WEEK that will be held from Dec. 2 to 5. It was also revealed that Jae-Jae, Park Moon Chi, Gaho, and LEENALCHI will attend MMA WEEK. Meanwhile, Lim Young Woong and Young Tak will be present at the main ceremony on Dec. 5

Then, on Nov. 25, more K-Pop groups have been included in the lineup for "Melon Music Awards 2020." Through Melon's official SNS, it was announced that TOMORROW x TOGETHER, MONSTA X, and Oh My Girl will also attend the main ceremony, joining BTS, Lim Young Woong, and Young Tak.

The schedule of the event has also been shared in the official SNS of Melon. On the first two days of MMA 2020 (Dec. 2 and 3), Jae-Jae will talk about the 2020 Korean music with Golden Child's Jangjun, AB6IX's Lee Daewhi, and ONF's Wyatt. Also, on Dec. 2, DAY6 (Even of Day), Park Moon Chi Universe, and DAMOIM (Deepflow, Simon Dominic, YUMDDA, The Quiett, and Paloalto) will have their stage performances. Meanwhile, LEENALCHI and Gaho will perform on Dec. 3.

Apart from that, Jeong Sewoon is scheduled to host interviews on Dec. 4, and on that same day, there will be stages by Jang Beom June and rookie stars who are yet to be revealed.

In other news, Melon has previously announced this year's Top 10 artists following the conclusion of the first round of voting, which occurred from Nov. 11 to 20. The Top 10 was selected after combining the Melon download and streaming counts (80 percent) and the fans' votes (20%).

The Top 10 artists for MMA 2020 are BLACKPINK, BTS, EXO's Baekhyun, IU, Oh My Girl, IZ*ONE, Baek Yerin, Kim Ho Joon, Block B's Zico, and Im Young Woong.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, this year's MMA will be "untact," meaning there will be no face-to-face contact to avoid the spread of the coronavirus. Hence, the awards ceremony will be broadcast online and fans will be able to view it on various platforms including the Melon app and the official YouTube channel.

And, unlike the Melon Music Awards in the past years, Melon has decided to conduct its very first MMA WEEK, which will take place from Dec. 2 through 5. The show will feature a new form of concerts, magazines containing stories of many artists, special playlists and videos to reminisce on the achievements and fun moments of this year's music industry, and other media content will be showcased.
