Along with the photos include a caption that reads, "Today, my niece's idol group debuted on Magic Bank. Aespa. Stage name Karina." At the bottom of the post, the user congratulated their niece, Karina, on her debut.

Karina, whose real name is Yoo Jimin, is a rookie idol who debuted in Nov. 2020. She is part of the SM Entertainment girl group Aespa and is the group's vocalist, rapper, and dancer. Prior to her debut, she appeared in labelmate Taemin's music video for "WANT" and promoted alongside him on music shows. She also appeared with EXO member Kai's virtual showcase for Hyundai Motor Company. Before signing with SM Entertainment, she was a famous ulzzang.

Prior to her debut, Karina was embroiled in controversy over her alleged bad behavior. Someone who claimed to be friends with Karina leaked a text message exchange with her. In the messages, the idol is seen insulting her labelmate, seniors EXO, and NCT. She is also seen insulting the Big Hit Entertainment boy group, BTS.

Aespa is a South Korean girl group under SM Entertainment consisting of Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning. They debuted in Nov. 2020 with the single "Black Mamba." They are the first SM Entertainment girl group in six years, with their last girl group, Red Velvet, debuting in 2014.

The group's fame continues to rise because of their unique concept of having AI (also known as ae) counterparts to their four members. The four members and their ae-counterparts make them an eight-member girl group. Insiders say the group will potentially be adding more members in the future.
