EXO Kai's solo debut has been a complete success after his first mini-album entered iTunes charts worldwide.

On Nov. 30, Kai has officially debuted as a solo artist with the mini-album titled "KAI." The music video for the title track "Mmmh" was also shared on the same day.

Shortly after the release, "KAI" landed on the top spot of iTunes Top Albums charts in numerous countries, including Canada, Brazil, Netherlands, Mexico, South Africa, New Zealand, Dominican Republic, Greece, Norway, Ecuador, and more, for a total of 50 countries.

EXO Kai's mini-album also ranked first on the digital album sales charts for China's largest music sites, QQ Music, Kuwo Music, and KuGou Music. Other than that, the music video for "Mmmh" took the No. 1 spot on QQ Music's Korean music video chart.

Kai is the fifth EXO member to make his solo debut, following Suho, Chen, Baekhyun, and Lay. His debut mini-album "KAI" contains six songs and has a total length of 17 minutes and 51 seconds. The album's title track, "Mmmh," is an R&B pop song featuring a minimal sound and simple yet addicting melody. It is defined as a direct and honest love song with lyrics portraying the attraction a person feels right after meeting someone for the first time.

The MV for "Mmmh" shows EXO Kai's teleportation skill, which is the superpower assigned to him for the boy group's concept of being aliens from a different planet. The video also showcases the idol's impressive dancing skills. As of Dec. 1, the music video already has 9.3 million views.

In a press conference held before the release of his solo mini-album, Kai shared that his album means "to open," because he wishes to open the hearts of the public through "KAI." He also said that he wants to show off his voice, dance, charm, and diverse sides both as a human and an artist.

Moreover, the singer said that he personally chose all the songs included in his mini-album while considering what will best match his vocal tone and what performance he could present on stage. During the conference, Kai also expressed his gratitude to his fellow EXO members who have given him ideas on how he could create a much better album, which EXO-L (EXO's official fan club) will like.

In particular, the artist revealed that SHINee's Taemin, who has made his solo debut first, gave him a lot of advice on what he should do and what he should pay attention to more while promoting as a soloist. Kai also thanked the fans who have been supporting him since he debuted as an EXO member.

Meanwhile, EXO Kai performed the mini-album's title track "Mmmh" for the first time on Naver NOW's Party B, just a few hours after making his solo debut.

Kim Jongin, better known for his stage name Kai, made his debut as one of the main dancers of the South Korean-Chinese boy band EXO under SM Entertainment in April 2012. The members are currently focusing on solo and unit activities since Xiumin, D.O, Chen, and Suho are currently serving in the military.
