The Ruby Play Button is given to YouTube channels that hit 50 million subscribers. It is one step above the Diamond Play Button, which is given to YouTube channels that hit 10 million subscribers.

YouTube directly produces and curates a unique design to symbolize each channel that receives a Ruby Play Button. Because of this, each channel that has ever hit 50 million subscribers has its own unique Ruby Play Button. Currently, it is unknown what BLACKPINK's Ruby Play Button looks like.

As of the time of writing, BLACKPINK has 53.9 subscribers on YouTube. They are the most-subscribed to the music group, girl group, and Asian act on the platform. Previously, BLACKPINK has broken numerous records on the platform. During the release of "Kill This Love" (2019) and "How You Like That" (2020), both music videos broke the most-viewed music video within 24 hours of release at the time. During the release of "How You Like That," they also broke the record for the most viewers for the premiere of a video on YouTube at the time.

Additionally, they are the first musical group and Korean group to have three music videos surpass one billion views on the platform.

On Tuesday, Dec. 1, BLACKPINK dropped a surprise video to their YouTube channel titled "BLACKPINK - THE INVITATION." In the video, someone wearing white gloves is seen carrying a special, YouTube-themed object and putting it in a black suitcase. A pink invitation is then seen.

The numbers "124" are seen in the passcode. The case has instructions to be delivered by Dec. 3, 11 AM KST, and to handle the delivery with care.

Currently, it is unknown what BLACKPINK is inviting and delivering fans to. Specific information concerning the video has yet to be released, but many have speculated that it could be a Ruby Play Button unboxing.

The group's last musical promotional activity was in October. BLACKPINK released their first-ever full-length studio album, "THE ALBUM," with the lead single "Lovesick Girls." "THE ALBUM" peaked at number two on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Album Chart, making BLACKPINK the highest-charting K-pop girl group to chart. "THE ALBUM" broke the record for the highest first-week album sales for a K-pop girl group, selling roughly 590,000 copies sold in just a day. They are the first-ever million-seller girl group, having sold 1.2 million copies of "THE ALBUM" in less than a month.

The group also released a Netflix documentary titled "BLACKPINK: Light Up The Sky" that same month. The documentary covers the past four years of the group's career, from their debut in 2016 until now. The documentary included never-before-seen footage from their trainee days and their home lives. It also included behind-the-scenes stories and 1-on-1 interviews with each BLACKPINK member.
