tvX Selects BLACKPINK, BTS, IU and More as 'Idol of the Year' in Respective Categories
These K-pop groups and artists stood out the most this year!
On Friday, tvX, a Korean media released its series "K-POP Focus," as a year-end and new year special cover, revealing the Korean singers and groups that shined the most this year.
In particular, the video and new media brand of the entertainment media Exsports News, unveiled "Idol of the Year" by category.
There are five categories of selection: boy group, male solo, girl group, female solo, and mixed group, and the winners that reigned include BTS, Lim Young Woong, BLACKPINK, IU, and SSAK3.

According to the result, BTS was awarded for Male Group Category. Indeed, the seven-membered group brought unexpected breaking-records not only in the domestic market but in the global market as well.

Who are the "Idol of the Year"? Female Group and Female Solo Winners
As for the Female Group Category, the quartet BLACKPINK received the title among other girl groups.
Within the pool of successful boy bands this year, it is rather a tough year for girl groups, but BLACKPINK's releases and first full-length album lifted the girl's power.
BLACKPINK achieved massive records of having YouTube MVs reached 100 million views with 32 hours for " How You Like That" and the first girl group to become a "Million-seller" with their album, "The Album." The girl group is also a team that has played a perfect role in both the number of music sources, album sales, YouTube views, and the amount and quality of advertisements signed, which are the main factors that evaluate an idol's success.
As for the Female Solo Category, singer IU, who marks her 12th anniversary, IU's worked this 2020 is too broad, deep, and rich and her success can be seen with her release, "Eight."
Meanwhile, for the mixed group category, SSAK3 prevailed which group contained iconic and legendary members former Fin.KL Lee Hyori, Rain, and Yoo Jae Suk.
The meeting of the three, who have had both national recognition and national popularity, is actually quite rare in this era. Due to this, their track, "Beach Again" recorded a Perfect All-Kill (PAK).
