Aespa Reveals How They Were Scouted by SME + Gifts They Want to Receive from Lee Soo Man
They were chosen to audition and became a trainee of SM Entertainment, but the members thought they were scammed!
On Wednesday, Dec. 9, the newest girl group launched by SM Entertainment, Aespa, appeared as special guests on SBS Power FM's "Choi Hwajung's Power Time," revealing fun stories and honest thoughts before and after their debut.
On the same day, the members composed of Karina, Winter, NingNing, and Giselle had an entertaining conversation during the radio show, sharing some secrets and confessions about Aespa, particularly how they were scouted by their agency!
During the interview, Aespa was also asked by DJ Hwajung if what kind of presents they want to receive from SME's founder, Lee Soo Man, and the rookie idols' answers attracted fans' attention.
How Did SM Entertainment Scout Aespa Members Karina, Winter, Giselle, and NingNing?
When asked by a listener if how did they get into SM Entertainment, the four members have interesting and different stories to tell.
According to NingNing, "I've joined numerous singing programs in China prior to joining my company. The agency saw my video and I received a call from them. To be honest, I thought it was a scam at first. "
As for Winter, she revealed that she was scouted after attending a dance festival. A staff went to her and said, "Do you want to become an entertainer?"
The idol thought that it was a fraud as well, as the staff didn't mention the company. But her doubts disappeared after seeing the business card and going to the company building herself.
Meanwhile, Karina who is active on social media before her debut was actually an ulzzang before, or an internet star gaining attention for her beauty.
When the agency saw her, they call Karina from DM, but she also thought that she was being scammed. After receiving a business card, she then trusted and went to the company.
During her pre-debut days, Karina also appeared on SHINee's Taemin "Want" for a solo dance part.
It was my first time on a music show, and I was shaking because it was my first time doing a full set and dancing. Taemin's support and encouragement gave me a lot of strength. I made my debut thanks to Taemin."
Lastly, Giselle said that she was chosen to become a trainee after attending an official audition.
What are the Presents Aespa Want to Receive This Christmas?
On the same day and interview, the DJ of the radio show asked Aespa members to send a video greeting to SM Founder Lee Soo Man, and the female idols who cutely asked for their Christmas presents.
Winter and Ningning, who are the mood maker of the group asked for an airpod and larger accommodation.
In particular, NingNing said cutely, "I lost my AirPods, please buy me a new one."
Winter cutely requested, "I want to get a larger accommodation as a Christmas gift. Four people are using one room."
Meanwhile, Karina and Giselle who are the most quiet members in the group asked for a doll and dog, respectively.
Winter promised to buy Karina a large doll, as for Giselle, she said, "If I'm busy, I don't think I will have a dog."
