BTS V, IU, and More: Google Data Reveals The Most Searched Idols in South Korea This 2020
On Thursday, Dec. 10, data from Google was announced. There, the top male and female idols who most searched in South Korea for this year (2020) was unveiled. Keep on reading to see who made the top rankings.
For the male idols, the most-search male idol in South Korea this year is BTS member V! This is not the first time V has topped these charts. In 2018, Eugene Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. conducted researched and analyzed the Google search trending concerning the Korean pop industry. V ranked first on the said charts, meaning that he was the number-one most-searched keyword concerning K-pop for the past five years in South Korea.
Additionally, V was selected as the 4th most well-loved idol in South Korea in 2019, according to an annual survey conducted by Gallup Korea.
Fellow BTS member Jungkook ranked second place. In 2019, Jungkook was the most-searched K-pop idol on Google, according to the website portal's mid-year chart. He has proved his popularity time and time again. Jungkook was ranked as the third most popular idol in South Korea last year in Gallup Korea's annual survey.

For the female version of the data, IU ranked first as the most searched female idol. Though IU debuted in 2008, "The Nation's Little Sister" has managed to stay at the top and is one of South Korea's most successful soloists. IU is one of Korea's Power Celebrities, according to Forbes Magazine. She has been named as one of the most popular celebrities in South Korea ever since 2017, according to Gallup Korea.
The second most searched female idol is Red Velvet's leader Irene. In 2019, Irene was named as the sixth most well-loved idol in South Korea in Gallup Korea's annual music survey. That same year, she was named as the third most popular female K-pop idol with soldiers partaking in their mandatory military service.
