TWICE member Chaeyoung has been forced to delay her departure to the United States after suddenly experiencing lower back pain on March 26, raising concerns about her participation in the remaining US leg of the group's ongoing "THIS IS FOR" world tour.
JYP Entertainment announced on Thursday that Chaeyoung "suddenly felt an abnormality in her back this morning" while preparing to fly out with her groupmates and was unable to board her scheduled flight.
The agency said she "urgently needs a medical examination" and would remain in South Korea to undergo hospital treatment while the rest of the members traveled to the US without her, according to Allkpop.
"After closely checking the test results and her recovery progress, she plans to depart as soon as possible," JYP Entertainment stated, per StarNews Korea. The agency also warned that even if Chaeyoung does rejoin the tour, "some of the performances may be limited."
The announcement comes just one day before TWICE is set to perform at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, on Mar. 27 and 28. Her participation in those shows and subsequent US dates, including stops in Charlotte, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Saint Paul, Denver, and Austin through mid-April, remains unconfirmed, Twice Tours reported.
Chaeyoung's back issue adds to growing health concerns within the group. Fellow member Dahyun was also ruled out of upcoming performances after JYP Entertainment confirmed on Mar. 25 that she would suspend all activities due to an ankle fracture sustained during the earlier North American leg in January, as reported by The Korea Herald. Dahyun had initially tried to continue performing while seated, but has been absent from shows since mid-February.
This is not Chaeyoung's first health-related absence from the tour. In November 2025, she was diagnosed with vasovagal syncope and took a hiatus through the end of the year, missing tour stops in Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, and Bangkok, according to Soompi. She returned for the first North American leg beginning in January 2026 and performed through the Taipei shows in late March before this latest setback, as per Soompi.
The "THIS IS FOR" world tour, which kicked off on Jul. 19, 2025, in Incheon, South Korea, is TWICE's largest tour to date, spanning 78 shows across 43 cities worldwide and running through Jun. 4, 2026, in London. JYP Entertainment said it would notify fans of any schedule changes through official channels.
