Pet Food Company CEO Under Fire for Filming BTS V's Puppy for Alleged Promotional Purposes

A chief executive officer of a particular pet food company is being criticized for feeding BTS V's pet puppy while filming it and uploading the video on YouTube for alleged promotional purposes.

A news article about BTS's V's pet dog named Yeontan was written this past May. However, the public didn't interest in it until recently, where the accompanying video is gaining attention on YouTube. In both the article and clip, a female hand can be seen holding a squeezable dog food and feeding it to Yeontan. The pet food company CEO and the journalist who wrote the article are being attacked by fans and netizens alike.

The article on Happy Pet, written by a News1 journalist, detailed how BTS's V and his puppy visited the veterinarian last May. Goldrony, a pet food brand, saw Yeontan and decided to give him a snack. Shortly after publication, the article and its accompanying video of Yeontan eating the pet food surfaced online. Since then, netizens have accused the CEO and journalist of using BTS's V's puppy to promote the pet food company's products.

Not only does the article talk about the snack and brand, but the video title also sounds promotional as it reads "Yeontan-ah~ is this tasty? What is the snack that has caught the eye of BTS V's puppy?" Fans and netizens are disappointed as the CEO did not ask for BTS's V for permission to feed Yeontan, neither to record him and upload the video. Feeding any pet without consent is a sensitive matter due to the possible health complications such as allergies.

The journalist who wrote the article left a now-deleted comment on the video uploaded on YouTube. In the comment, the journalist stated that they didn't receive any payment from the pet food company to feature their brand and even asked the fans to cease contacting them. BTS's V is yet to speak up on the issue.

Meanwhile, this past September, the adorable Pomeranian, Yeontan, trended on social media platforms, particularly its nickname "Tannie." In that month, BTS's V's dog was celebrating his third birthday, so V took to Weverse to greet his pet. Of course, ARMYs, as well, joined the celebration, making the keyword "Tannie" trend not only on Weverse but also on Twitter.

The singer's puppy also trended on No. 1 on Twitter on his birthday back in 2018. And then last year, BTS's V and Yeontan had a special photoshoot in collaboration with Naver x Dispatch for the idol's birthday.

Yeontan is one of the current five dogs of BTS's V. He has been popular among ARMYs as he often appears on BTS's SNS as V usually spends time with him. It is said that V adopted Yeontan, which was born with health problems, particularly he had difficulties in walking. Also, it was reported that BTS's V first visited and sought advice from a dog trainer before adopting Yeontan in January 2018.
