WATCH: TWICE Drops 'Cry For Me' Concept Film

TWICE has released the concept film for their upcoming song "Cry For Me."

On Dec. 14 at midnight KST, JYP Entertainment uploaded the teaser video for "Cry For Me" through the company's official YouTube channel. The clip lasts for 36 seconds and shows a glimpse of what the concept will be for TWICE's upcoming track.

The concept film for TWICE's "Cry For Me" started with a scene featuring a female, who is presumed to be Nayeon, walking toward a room. Elements such as dried branches with thorns and a red room filled with candles can be noticed in the clip, which create a more unique and subtle mood.

The next parts of the teaser video highlighted the members, starting with Nayeon, Dahyun, Jihyo, Sana, Mina, Tzuyu, Momo, and Chaeyoung. Toward the end of the clip, lines from "Cry For Me" can be heard as background music. Jeongyeon was unable to take part in the filming of the concept film as she is currently taking a break due to health issues.

JYP Entertainment's very own producer J.Y. Park and famed South Korean singer-songwriter, Heize, were the ones who wrote the lyrics of TWICE's "Cry For Me." Heize previously participated in the girl group's latest album "Eyes Wide Open" in which she penned the last track "Behind the Mask." "Cry For Me" is said to be about the confusion between love and hate. The lyrics unravel the moment when both emotions co-exist at the same time.

TWICE's "Cry For Me" trended on Twitter after the girl group performed the song at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) last Dec. 6. It was the first time that the band delivered the track, hence fans all around the world were so surprised that they took to Twitter to express their joy.

Not only that, the performance video of TWICE's "Cry For Me" exceeded 9 million views in less than a week after being uploaded on Mnet's official YouTube channel. This only proves how the song has captured the hearts and attention of fans across the globe. And because they immediately fell in love with the track, fans asked JYP Entertainment for an official release. Now, TWICE is granting the wish of their beloved ONCE (TWICE's fan club) as the group continues to release teasers.

TWICE's "Cry For Me" is said to be launched as a pre-release track, which means that the single may be included in an upcoming album of the female act. This will be the group's first Korean release in two months since their second studio album "Eyes Wide Open" and the first in one month since their seventh Japanese single "Better."

In other news, TWICE recently attended this year's The Fact Music Awards and they were able to take home one of the trophies for "This Year's Artist" recognition. Last year, the girl group also won the title, as well as the "Worldwide Icon" award.
