MONSTA X Surprises Fans With Special Costume Version of 'Love Killa'

MONSTA X continues to be a gift that keeps on giving, surprising their MONBEBEs with a dance practice video for their hit comeback "Love Killa," this time wearing different costumes!

Starship Entertainment's six-piece boy group uploaded the special "Costume Version" on the management label's YouTube and Naver V Live channels on December 15. Before the latest dance practice video for "Love Killa," the members broadcast their costume selection process in their own "Mon Channel," raising the hype and anticipation among fans. Costumes considered by MONSTA X came from fan recommendations.

After drawing lots, Shownu was tasked to dress up as an airline pilot (complete with pilot cap and aviator shades), Minhyuk cosplayed Li Syaoran from "Cardcaptor Sakura," Kihyun picked Techwear (looking like Leon Kennedy from "Resident Evil"), Hyungwon in his equestrian outfit, Jooheon appeared as a racecar driver, while IM appeared in a complete baseball outfit.

The members actually took effort in their cosplays - especially Minhyuk's prop straight sword and IM's pitcher glove - and gave a modified performance of the lead track for their third Korean album, "Fatal Love." Members can be seen having fun with their dance routines spiced up with impromptu "in-character" movements. Jooheon's part has been accented with driving-inspired movements, such as turning an imaginary steering wheel and shifting the clutch. IM, in his stylish baseball costume, can be seen in a variety of pitching actions. Minhyuk even playfully "stabs" Jooheon at the end of the video.

However, the "Love Killa Dance Practice Costume Version" still packs the same confidence and appeal as with all their performances, with an added playfulness to the performance this time.

"Love Killa" serves as the title track for "Fatal Love," released last November 2, with the music video for the lead track released on the same day. The official MV for "Love Killa" - now with close to 27 million views on YouTube - features the six members as iconic pop culture characters taken from "The Dark Knight Rises," "American Psycho," "Fight Club," and more. The choreography for its chorus, which features the instantly-recognizable boxing-inspired steps, has spawned a "Love Killa Challenge." Even idols from other K-Pop groups such as Cravity and Pentagon dance to the hit song in the new SNS trend.

Since its release, "Love Killa" has earned the group two music show awards: one from SBS MTV's "The Show" and another from MBC M's "Show Champion." Additionally, MONSTA X recently won its first Daesang at the 2020 Asia Artist Awards, in addition to the Performance Award from the 2020 Melon Music Awards and its Best Stage Award from the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA). Their album, "Fatal Love," has also topped the South Korean Hanteo Album charts for November, placing first in the sales monitor's chart for the second and third week of the month, charts dated November 9 to 15, and 16 to 22.
