RED VELVET Wendy to Make Her Return in New TV Show

Attention ReVeluv - RED VELVET's Wendy is finally coming back to the entertainment industry with a new music talk show.

On Monday, Dec. 21, reports state that JTBC will launch a new music talk show called "Mysterious Record Shop" in collaboration with SM C&C STUDIO, which is the largest producer of OTT experience in Korea that continuously communicate with subscribers and viewers through original contents on various official YouTube channels. Four hosts of the upcoming television program have been revealed, and they are RED VELVET's Wendy, Super Junior's Kyuhyun, Jang Yoon Jung, and Yoon Jong Shin.

"Mysterious Record Shop" is a music talk show that focuses on introducing the life stories and songs of their guests. Hosts and guests will be talking about their careers and lives and about how various songs have affected their lives. Viewers can expect a perfect combination of emotion, laughter, and fun.

JTBC's upcoming new music talk show marks the official comeback of Red Velvet's Wendy in the entertainment industry of South Korea. Wendy started taking a break from activities in December 2019 when she fell from the stage during rehearsals for her solo performance for 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon on Dec. 25 and had serious injuries. According to SM Entertainment, Red Velvet's Wendy sustained injuries to her face and fractures in her wrist and pelvis.

Because of the accident, Red Velvet did not perform at the 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon and held their La Rouge concerts in Japan without Wendy. Last April, SM Entertainment shared that Red Velvet's Wendy has been discharged from the hospital but is still receiving outpatient treatment. The label also stated that the idol has recovered significantly. Prior to his, the singer personally shared an update to fans via her personal Instagram account.

Since the stage accident, the girl group became inactive in the K-Pop scene until members Irene and Seulgi debuted as Red Velvet's first sub-unit this past July with the extended play titled "Monster." In August, Red Velvet launched its SM Station single, which is a cover of BoA's "Milky Way" as part of a project commemorating BoA's 20th anniversary of debut. This marked Wendy's partial return to the group eight months after her accident.

In November, Red Velvet's Wendy lent her voice to one of the original soundtracks for the tvN drama "Start-Up." Titled "Two Letters," the OST was officially released on Nov. 25 and conveys both the pain of rejection and the beauty of sadness. It was written by Choi Han Sol and Han Kyung Soo and features guitar and piano accompaniment.

SM Entertainment's CEO Lee Sung Soo previously announced that Red Velvet will make a comeback with new music soon and with a more mature appearance. The girl group's last release featuring all five members is the final part of their "The ReVe Festival" trilogy - "The ReVE Festival: Finale" that was released on Dec. 23. The album consists of 12 tracks including the hit song "Psycho."

Meanwhile, JTBC's upcoming talk show "Mysterious Record Shop" marks the return of not only Red Velvet's Wendy but also Yoon Jong Shin, who halted appearing in television shows to focus on his music and find himself.
