(G)I-DLE Shuhua Receives Backlash for Her Mistakes during Maknaes' Stage + Shuhua Responds

(G)I-DLE's youngest member Shuhua received negative comments following her performance during the Maknaes' Stage at the 2020 KBS Gayo Daechukje.

The 2020 KBS Song Festival ("Gayo Daechukje") took place on Dec. 18 with TVXQ's Yunho, ASTRO's Cha Eunwoo, and actress Shin Ye Eun as the hosts. The music show featured a star-studded lineup of performing artists, including BTS, TWICE, SEVENTEEN, MAMAMOO, NCT, and more. One stage that fans were looking forward to was the "Maknaes' Stage," which is a collaboration between Oh My Girl's Arin, ITZY's Yuna, IZ*ONE's Jang Wonyoung, and (G)I-DLE's Shuhua.

Arin, Yuna, Wonyoung, and Shuhua took the stage together to perform APINK's debut single titled "I Don't Know." While the maknaes' performance overall was splendid, one member, in particular, is receiving backlash for her mistakes during the joint stage. Some viewers expressed their disappointment over the idol member that messed up the choreography.

During the collaboration, (G)I-DLE Shuhua can be noticed making mistakes a few times. There was one point where she was unable to execute the right arm moves and looked around trying to copy the other members' moves. During another part of the dance, she can be seen missing a step making it evident that she was lost during that move. While the rest of the girls hopped with their legs together, Shuhua was the only one seen with her legs apart. Also, she missed the corresponding arm move during that part.

Upon seeing her mistakes on stage, some netizens left some harsh comments. During a livestream, (G)I-DLE's Shuhua defended herself explaining why slipped up during the joint stage. The idol stated that (G)I-DLE had a few scheduled activities at that time, so she and the maknaes (youngest members) of the other girl groups were only able to practice together once before they went straight to film for the KBS Song Festival. "We didn't have much time to practice, but I tried my best," Shuhua said.

Earlier this month, it was reported that (G)I-DLE is gearing up for a comeback with aims for release in mid-January next year. Shortly afterward, the girl group's management agency Cube Entertainment confirmed the news. Considering this and the fact that the sextet had to participate in the recording of the 2020 KBS Song Festival, it's no wonder why Shuhua and the other maknaes (youngest members) didn't have much time to practice together.

Meanwhile, the group's upcoming comeback will be their first one after five months since their first single album titled "Dumdi Dumdi," which features the lead single of the same name. "Dumdi Dumdi" became the second best-selling girl group single album in history after having a total of 94,587 initial sales. Also, it debuted on the Gaon Digital Chart at No. 27 and on the US Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart at No. 15. It later peaked at No. 8 and No. 13, respectively.

In addition, the lead single became (G)I-DLE's most-winning track after it ranked first for two weeks in a row on different music shows, such as Show Champion, Inkigayo, and M Countdown.
