Stray Kids' Bang Chan Talks about His Experience Covering BTS's 'Dionysus'

Stray Kids' leader Bang Chan discussed what it was like covering BTS's "Dionysus."

At the 2020 KBS Song Festival (Gayo Daechukje) on Dec. 18, Stray Kids was one of the artists who took the stage. Besides performing their song "God's Menu," the boy group also covered BTS's 2019 track "Dionysus," which is part of BTS's extended play "Map of the Soul: Persona." In a recent live broadcast, Stray Kids' Bang Chan shared his experience covering BTS's single.

During the livestream, Bang Chan stated that it was an honor to perform a song of BTS. "And of course, they are sunbaenim (senior) that we have so much respect for. We thought that we really have to do well, so we worked very hard," the Stray Kids member said.

The male idol went on to say that when they were performing live, they still needed to play the MR (Music Recording) removed version of their performance, hence during the recording and mixing process of BTS's "Dionysus," Stray Kids paid extra attention to the song. And while listening to the track, Bang Chan shared that they were surprised by the multiple ad-libs within BTS's "Dionysus."

"So, I tried my best to take note of all of them and did the recording, and the members also did very well," Stray Kids' Bang Chan said. The singer then mentioned the last part of the song, which is very high. He commented that his fellow Stray Kids member Han was able to sing the high notes well, both in the middle and last parts of BTS's "Dionysus."

In spite of having a hard time recording the track, Stray Kids' Bang Chan confessed that the process was fun. He said, "When I listened to the original song, I found out that there are so many ad-libs, and that makes me want to do is as perfect (as similar) as it can be (to the original song). The process itself was fun." Stray Kids' leader then thanked fans for liking their cover stage of BTS's "Dionysus." He also said that it was a great experience for the boy group.

Meanwhile, apart from their performance of BTS's "Dionysus," Stray Kids also made headlines following the 2020 KBS Song Festival (Gayo Daechukje) for another reason - because of the group's reaction to the collaboration stage of J.Y. Park and Sunmi with the retro medley of their songs, including the duet "When We Disco." While watching the duo's performance, Stray Kids couldn't help but go wild, making fans and viewers crack up because of their unexpected reactions.

In other news, Stray Kids is included in this months' brand reputation rankings as per the release of the Korean Business Research Institute. In particular, the boy band ranked thirteenth in the list. Additionally, Stray Kids is previously confirmed to join The Boyz as contestants in Mnet's upcoming "Kingdom," which is the male version of the previous show "Queendom." The show is scheduled to be broadcast sometime in the first half of 2021.
