EXO D.O. Reportedly on His Last Military Leave + Official Discharge in January 2021

The main vocalist of EXO, whose real name is Do Kyungsoo, has been announced to have returned from the military. According to Korean media outlet, Sports Trend, on Dec. 28, Monday,  D.O. is currently on his last military leave and will be officially discharged from the military on January 25, 2021.

D.O. joined the military in July 2019 and is also the second EXO member enlist, following their eldest, Xiumin.

Before his enlistment, the idol-actor wrote to EXO-L (EXO's fanbase) on their official fan club cafe Bubble, "I will come back safely and healthily as it was made after a long consideration."

"I sincerely thank EXO-L for always supporting me," he added, as he expressed his love and affection to them through the handwritten letter.

D.O.'s Military Life and Career

D.O. enlisted on July 1, and for the past years, the male idol proved his diverse talents and skills aside from being a singer. He has served as a cook at the Air Defense Battalion of the Capital Mechanized Infantry Division, considering that he has a chef license.

In addition to this, he also made a welcoming appearance in a healthy state along with BtoB's Sungjae for a coronavirus safety campaign called #Proud challenge, hosted by the Military Manpower Administration last November.

D.O. made his debut as an EXO member in 2012 and debuted under SM Entertainment. Since then, he has been recognized for his singing prowess and as one of the best and most versatile singers in the K-pop industry.

Furthermore, he is considered one of the best "actdols" (acting idols) due to this stellar acting skills in the 2014 drama "It's Okay, It's Love," and also made headlines as an actor through "100 Days My Prince," movies "Along With the Gods" and "Swing Kids."

D.O. will be the second EXO member to complete the mandatory service after Xiumin, and is expected to continue various activities such as music and acting in 2021. He is slated to star in the upcoming film "The Moon" with veteran actor Sol Kyung Gyu.

"The Moon" will revolve around the story of a man (Do Kyungsoo) who was left alone in space due to an accident. Another man (Sol Kyung Gyu) on Earth who is working at an astronomical observatory will reach out to him, and the story will unveil how he desperately tries to save D.O.'s role. 

On the other hand, fans and supporters were also anticipating his future works as a solo artist and in EXO. As there are currently two members including Suho and Chen who are still serving the military, music fans are focused if D.O. will promote with the remaining members in a sub-unit, or if he will finally debut with a solo album in 2021.

Before his enlistment, D.O. successfully released his solo song, "That's Okay," through SM Station 3, as his gift to fans.
