BLACKPINK Lisa and BTS V Win 'Artist of the Year' at Bousnid Awards 2020

Bousnid Star Awards have announced the winners for "Artist of the Year," and two K-pop stars have been crowned, particularly a member of BLACKPINK and BTS.

Bousnid is a Mexico-based online platform and source of trending content. As per their social media accounts, "Bousnid Stars" is a recognition that holds great value as the winners in each category will be determined through the help of their beloved fan clubs.

One of the categories for "Bousnid Awards 2020" is "Artist of the Year." Every Monday, photos of the stars are posted to their SNS accounts and fans can vote for their favorite female and male artists in the comment section using certain hashtags for the votes to be considered valid. Elimination of stars happened every week, with the least-voted nominee being removed and the two most-commented singers until Friday having a high chance to be crowned "Artist of the Year."

Apart from leaving particular hashtags in the comments, fans also had the chance to vote through Bousnid's Instagram stories for 24 hours, starting every Saturday. The voting for "Artist of the Year" kicked off on October 26 and there were 16 female candidates and 15 male candidates. BLACKPINK's Lisa was competing against 15 female singers including Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Jimena Jimenez, Darian Rojas, and many more.

Harry Styles, Samuel Lopez, Emilio Martinez, and Joaquin Bondoni are some of the competitors of BTS's V. Kim Taehyung (V) was the only Asian male that was nominated for the said title. The semi-final round for the "Artist of the Year" took place on Dec. 16, and this time, fans can vote via Twitter using the same hashtags. Seven nominees for each female and male category were left, and only four artists for every category will be moving on to the final round, which was held on Dec. 27.

BLACKPINK's Lisa, Jimena Jimenez, Kimberly Loaiza, and Darian Rojas were the four most-voted female singers, while BTS's V, Cole Sprouse, Samuel Lopez, and Emilio Martinez for the male artists. On Dec. 28, the winners and rankings have been announced. For the female "Artist of the Year," BLACKPINK's Lisa was announced as the winner. She received a total of 37,838 votes. Kimberly Loaiza was in second place, Jimena Jimenez in third place, and Darian Rojas in fourth place.

As for the male category, BTS's V has been crowned the "Artist of the Year." After intense voting, he won by a huge margin. The K-pop idol got 54,311 total votes, becoming the highest in the competition. Cole Sprouse claimed the second spot, Emilio Martinez ranked third, and Samuel Lopez in fourth place.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK's "JenLisa" and BTS's "TaeKook" are amongst the nominees for Bousnid's "Favorite Friendship" award. The voting process is still ongoing and the two popular K-pop ships have made it to the final round, and they are competing against One Direction's Louis and Harry (LARRY) and LIEAN. The latest voting period started from Dec. 21 to Dec. 27. The winner of Bousnid's "Favorite Friendship" award is yet to be announced.
