The past year has allowed MONSTA X's Minhyuk to demonstrate his talent in hosting shows, earning him the title of the next-generation MC.

Since Minhyuk was a participant in the survival program No.Mercy, and his early days with MONSTA X, he has always had that eloquence to him. The Starship Entertainment talent is also quick-witted and has shown that he can respond immediately to varying and unexpected scenarios. Minhyuk has also emerged as one of the funnier members of the group, expressing playfulness and wit in his response.

Minhyuk's run as an upstart next-generation MC began as one of the three hosts for the SBS Inkigayo, together with NCT's Jaehyun and April's Naeun, hosting for every Sunday in late 2019 well into 2020. The trio received favorable reviews for their on-screen chemistry together, their smooth and natural exchanges, and even their complementing fashion choices.

In July 2020, Minhyuk began his weekly radio show on Naver NOW, "VogueShip Show," with the show title being a wordplay on the Korean phrase meaning "I Want To See You. As the radio show host, Minhyuk further proved himself as a great MC not only for his funny remarks but also for his compassion and insight as he tackles different topics on the show. Furthermore, fans of Minhyuk and MONSTA X were treated to another of the singer's talents - painting. The next-generation MC also displayed his own work in the background for "Minhyuk's Atelier."

A few months later, in August, the MONSTA X member was announced to be an MC for the latest KT Seezn show, "Back to the Idol," together with Super Junior's Eunhyuk. It helped cement his reputation not just as the next-generation MC, but as a true fan of the industry - expressing his wide knowledge in the Korean popular culture. Furthermore, he proved that as a performer, he can keep up with his senior in the industry, the dance machine Eunhyuk.

As with his other MC roles, Minhyuk's work in "Back to the Idol" was also praised by audiences for his warmth and sincerity towards his co-host and the guests of the show, turning each interview into something sincere and intimate.

Aside from the MC roles Minhyuk has taken the previous year, he has remained active and highly visible as a performer. In September, he released the song "Have a Good Night," which was a duet with his MONSTA X groupmate Shownu. The song was used in the soundtrack for the hit webtoon "She's My Type."

He also flexed his vocal prowess and versatility by joining Korea's "King of Masked Singer." In the singing competition, he appeared as the contestant "Baepsae," which translates to crow-tit - the birds that adorned his black and gold mask. Although he lost in the third round, he managed to touch the hearts of the panel and the audience with his renditions of Ann's "One Sided Love," Jo Junghyun's "Even Loved the Pain," and Lee Hyunwoo's "Because I Love You."
