SM Entertaiment Announces SHINee Comeback at SMTOWN LIVE 'Culture Humanity' Concert

SHINee's back!

On Jan. 1, at 1 PM KST, SM Entertainment announced a full-member SHINee comeback through SMTOWN Live's "Culture Humanity" online concert. Keep on reading for all the details!

After three years, SHINee is finally making a comeback with all members present. The comeback was revealed through a special video that showcases SHINee and their comebacks through the years. Starting at 2008 with "Replay", it takes us through "Love Like Oxygen", "Juliette" (2009), "Ring Ding Dong", "Lucifer" (2010), "Sherlock (Clue + Note)" (2012), "Dream Girl" (2013), "Why So Serious?", "Everybody", "View" (2015), "1 of 1" (2016), "Good Evening" (2018), "I Want You", and "Our Page."

The year 2021 slowly zooms out on the screen and we hear Minho's iconic "SHINee's back" whisper. With that, SM Entertainment successfully built up anticipation for SHINee's upcoming comeback. Currently, no specific date has been released.

SHINee has not had a comeback since 2018 due to member Onew, Key, and Minho's military services. Onew enlisted for his mandatory military service on Dec. 10, 2018. During his time in the military, he acted in the military musical "Shinheung Military Academy" in July 2019 and "Return: The Promise of That Day" in Aug. 2019. He was discharged from the military on July 8, 2020, twelve days earlier than his original discharge date.

Key enlisted for his mandatory military service on March 4, 2019, the same day he released the repackaged version of his album "Face" titled "I Wanna Be" with the lead single "I Wanna Be (feat. SOYEON of (G)I-DLE". Key went on his final leave from the military on Sept. 24, 2020, and was official discharged on Oct. 7.

Minho enlisted for his mandatory military service on April 15, 2019, after conducting his fan meeting tour "Best Choi's Minho" in Seoul (South Korea), Tokyo (Japan), Bangkok (Thailand), and Taipei (Taiwan), as well as after the release of his debut solo single, "I'm Home." He was discharged from the military on Nov. 14, 2020. During his time in the military, Minho was part of the Marine Corps.

Taemin is the only member who has not enlisted for his mandatory military service. From 2018 to 2020, he was busy promoting as a soloist and as a member of SuperM. In 2020, Taemin released his third Korean studio album, "Never Gonna Dance Again".The first part of the album was released on Sept. 7, 2020, with the lead title track "Criminal". The second part of the album was released on Nov. 9, 2020, with the lead title track "Idea." The full album was released on Dec.14, 2020.

SHINee's last comeback was a three-part Korean album titled "The Story of Light". The first part of the said comeback, "Good Evening", was released on May 28, The second part, "I Want You", was released on June 11. The last part, "Our Page", was released on June 25. According to the members, the first part of the album shows what people think of them, while the second part shows how they see themselves. The group releases Japanese versions of the song on Aug. 1, 2018, alongside a single titled "Sunny Side", which was written by all the members. They released "The Story of Light-Epilogue" was released on Sept. 10, 2018, as the group's sixth album repackage, which consisted of all tracks from "The Story of Light" and a new song, "Countless".
