If not all, most fans are aware that Big Hit Entertainment acquired KOZ Entertainment in November 2020. The agency, which was founded by Zico, manages the career of DVWN. At the time, CEO Yoo Seung Hyun said that they decided to push through with the procurement since both KOZ Entertainment and Big Hit Entertainment share their artists' same goals and visions.

Yoo Seung Hyun even stated that they expect to discover more artists in the future as they work with Big Hit Entertainment. He shared that they want their artists to be known worldwide, just like how Big Hit Entertainment contributed to the successful career of BTS.

In response, Big Hit Entertainment Chairman Bang Si Hyuk said he is very pleased and honored to work with Zico, who is considered one of the best artists and producers in South Korea. Si Hyuk added that devoted supporters of KOZ Entertainment artists could expect their idols to be introduced to the international market through the company's global music production system and network.

The acquisition of KOZ Entertainment happened after Big Hit Entertainment bought Pledis Entertainment in the same year. The talent agency of BTS has also acquired Source Music in 2019 and established BELIFT LAB with the help of CJ ENM.

For starters, DVWN was launched as an independent soloist, who released his very first single without signing with any music and recording label. Despite being new to the music scene, the R&B singer captured numerous listeners with his exemplary voice and breathy tone. If that is not enough, DVWN also leans on lo-fi jazz, and indie-pop genres aside from R&B. Zico then recruited the then-newbie singer and joined KOZ Entertainment as its sole artist.
