Model Reveals EXO Kai’s True Personality While Filming on Set
On Saturday, Jan. 16, model Mirim shared her experiences working with EXO and SuperM member Kai for the filming of the "Reason" clip in "FILM: KAI". There, she revealed the idol's true personality while working on the set.
In her video, she explains how she was cast for a part in the video. She was informed by an agency that she worked with that she was shortlisted to be a model for the music video and would be informed if she was accepted soon. At the time, she had not known which artist she would be working with. After she was told she was accepted, Mirim was informed that she would be working with Kai.
At first, she was unsure which Kai they were talking about and clarified if it was EXO's Kai. When they said yes, she freaked out! Guess Mirim is quite the EXO-L herself!
On the day of the shoot, Mirim got ready, did her make-up, and dressed up all by herself, and used the subway to get to the location. At the time, she was unsure if she would be filming scenes with Kai or with just other models. However, when she saw a tall man wearing a hoodie and a mask entered the location, she got her answer - she was going to be working with Kai!
In her video, she reveals that while shooting, Kai was very quiet and did not talk a lot. Instead, he was focusing more on getting the shots perfect and was extremely hard-working. She said, "When the camera was on, he [Kai] was just doing his best dancing or acting. When the camera was off, he would check the results with the director, or he would practice his dancing even more. He really did work hard."
In the video, she revealed that she had actually gone home after filming early, by 5 PM. At that time, however, Kai was still shooting. He ended up leaving the set by 7 PM. Though she noted that the shooting itself was short compared to most music videos, and she only realized after filming that the parts she had short would be part of the overall film, meaning Kai had actually filmed for much longer to get all the scenes.
She also recalls how Kai was filming a behind-the-scenes video for fans. He would go to a table at the back of the room and he would talk to the fans. He would thank the EXO-Ls and would ask them to look out for his music videos. Mirim said she had watched him film the video and saw him laughing and smiling as he talked to the fans. She also noted that Kai had taken the pictures for the photocards on set.
Sadly, she revealed she was not able to have a full-on conversation with Kai. Other than exchanging greetings and pleasantries, Kai did not have much time to waste chit-chatting with others, as all the filming had to be done that day. Still, she says that he was sweet. Whenever he would talk with others, she recalls him laughing and joking around with the staff and make-up artists.
In her video, she also recalled filming the scene in which Kai was dancing in the cube. She had mentioned that they had to keep re-shooting until the scene was perfect and every time he leaves the cube after every shot, he would need to take a breather. The staff had to wipe the floor because it was with his sweat. According to Mirim, "He was dancing his a** off!"
She also noted that she saw Kai holding his back, and she could tell that it was hurting him. Since Kai had so many scenes to film and had to practice his dances, she couldn't help but commend his hard-work.
Mirim said it herself best: "He deserves all the love he gets."
