Sandara Causes People to Worry for Her Health Following Recent 'Video Star' Appearance
On Sandara Park's most recent appearance on "Video Star," the idol caused fans to worry about her health after they noticed one big change in her appearance.
Ever since 2019, Sandara Park has been a permanent cast member of the all-female cast of "Video Star," a spin-off program with the same concept as MBC's "Radio Star." Sandara has been part of the series ever since episode 130. During the show's most recent episode, the idol caused worry after fans spotted something different about her.
As the idol continued her role as a host, leading the talk show and asking their guests and the other cast members interesting questions to keep the conversation rolling, people had noticed that Sandara's neck appeared extremely swollen.
Compared to Sandara's appearance on the show in Dec. 2020, many had commented that her neck looked substantially larger than it was before. As she had not gained a drastic amount of weight in other parts of her body, people urged the idol to go to the hospital and get her neck check out.
Some people started to speculated that Sandara Park could possibly have a thyroid gland issue. One of the most common thyroid gland issues that cause swelling at the front of the neck is a goiter. Reasons for getting a goiter could be having an overactive thyroid gland, not getting enough iodine in your diet, cysts within the thyroid, having an inflamed thyroid gland, taking some types of medicine, or the worst possible cause, thyroid cancer. Women are more likely to develop a goiter.
Others speculated that Sandara could possibly have hyperthyroidism. Hyperthyroidism, also known as an overactive thyroid, occurs when the thyroid produces an excess of the hormone thyroxine. This can lead to accelerated metabolism, which leads to an unintentional weightless or irregular heartbeat. The three main causes of hyperthyroidism include Graves'diseases, an autoimmune disorder in which antibodies stimulate the thyroid and produce too much T4, hyperfunction thyroid nodules, or thyroiditis.
Sandara's recent appearance on KBS's "Problem Child in the House" only further caused fans to worry as they noticed her neck still looked swollen. As of press time, neither Sandara nor YG Entertainment has responded to people's concerns over her weight.

Sandara Park is currently a mainstay host for the all-female crew of "Video Star," assuming that role in Jan. 2019. Previously, she was also a judge and mentor for the JTBC K-pop show "Stage K." In 2020, Sandara Park made a cameo in the MBC drama "Dinner Mate" as a patient seeking psychological help for her eating habits.
In 2020, Sandara Park made her musical debut in the musical "Another Oh Hae Young." The musical is a stage adaption of the tvN drama of the same name. Besides her drama appearances and variety show appearances, Sandara Park is also active as a YouTuber with her own personal YouTube channel, DaraTV.
Sandara Park's last musical released was in 2019. The idol reunited with former 2NE1 group member Park Bom and featured on her debut single, "Spring", which was released on March 13, 2019.
