Former Gugudan member Kim Sejeong was recently criticized after her drama "The Uncanny Counter" ended. And now, an insider has stepped forward to defend the artist, revealing her true personality.

"The Uncanny Counter," which is based on a hit webtoon, tells a "Korean superhero" story about "Counters" who are people with supernatural powers disguising themselves as employees of a noodle restaurant and track down demons who aim to achieve eternal life.

The web drama was previously announced to have a second season, with details such as recording schedule and broadcast schedule to be revealed soon.

Kim Sejeong and OCN Drama Staff Receive Criticism after the Conclusion of "The Uncanny Encounter"

On Jan. 24, the program broadcasted its final episode for its first season. The OCN drama drew its highest viewership ratings, scoring an average nationwide rating of 11%. This became the highest record of not only the show but in OCN's history. After the show wrapped up, many of the OCN staff shared their thoughts about Kim Sejeong, who played Do Ha Na.

The OCN staff praised the former Gugudan member for her impressive acting skills and good attitude on set.

Netizens, however, criticized the drama staff and the singer-actress, claiming that her management agency Jellyfish Entertainment paid them off to say positive reviews about her.

Insider Defends Kim Sejeong Following False Claims about Her Attitude were made

Following the backlash, an insider revealed the true personality of Kim Sejeong to reporter Lee Jin Ho who previously once praised the female idol for her kindness. Lee, in fact, was the one who reached out to the insider to know more about the former Gugudan member.

On Feb. 10, the reporter uploaded a video to his YouTube channel where he interviewed the insider via phone call. The insider first shared that "The Uncanny Counter" actress is a bubbly person and always gives her best when it comes to work. They added that there are times when Sejeong can get mad, but she manages to keep calm and handle the situation smoothly.

"She's so kind and warm towards all her staff. She's very mature, but at times she appears like a young, innocent girl because she often smiles. If she sees a chance, she always grabs it. That's how much preparation she puts into her work. She is also greets everyone well and has great courtesy," the insider further said.

The insider went on to say that even though Kim Sejeong has seen great popularity for being an idol and an actress - she doesn't act arrogant and remains humble. They also shared that she is the type of person who can be trusted in anything.

Reporter Lee Jin Ho then concluded in his YouTube video by saying, "This is expected of Kim Sejeong. There are many people who might feel overwhelmed when people give compliments about them, but I think she already transcended that level."

Meanwhile, Kim Sejeong is a former member of K-pop girl groups I.O.I and Gugudan. She has been active as an actress not only in web dramas but also in a musical. In fact, she just made her musical debut last year in the "Return: The Promise of the Day."
