SM Entertainment Confirms Red Velvet Wendy is Gearing Up for Her Solo Debut in April

Wendy, Red Velvet's main vocalist, has been confirmed to debut as a solo artist! 

On March 10, Korean media outlet Star News announced that SM Entertainment's artist and Red Velvet member Wendy will release her solo album in April.

Following Irene and Seulgi, who debuted as a sub-unit in 2020, Wendy is now ready to take on the soloist career as she prepares for her solo album.

In particular, Wendy debuted as a group member of Red Velvet, releasing "Happiness," in August 2014. With her golden voice, she got the main vocalist position in the group.

Since then, Wendy is not only considered as one of the most talented vocalists in SM Entertainment, but she also captured K-pop enthusiasts' hearts for her outstanding singing ability, clear and warm vocals, as well as delicate expression in singing.

Aside from the skills and ability she showcased as the main singer of Red Velvet, Wendy demonstrated her own vocal color as a solo singer by collaborating with top-notch singers such as John Legend, Yang Da Il, and Eric Nam through SM Station songs.

Furthermore, Wendy is also the singer behind popular drama OSTs such as "Two Words" for "Startup," "My Day is Full of You" for "The King: Eternal Monarch," "Goodbye" for "The Beauty Inside," "I Can Only See You" for "Hwarang," and many more. 

On top of these, fans, specially Reveluvs (fandom of Red Velvet), also anticipate her return to the music scene as a solo artist, following her hiatus due to a stage accident during the group's rehearsal stage of SBS' "Music Awards Festival" in December 2019.

Fans were delighted when SM Entertainment announced that the female idol will resume her schedules and activities. Since then, Wendy has appeared in various pictorials, as well as on JTBC's "Mystical Record Shop" as an MC.

Attention is now focused on Wendy, who has been the musical backbone of K-pop's leading girl group Red Velvet, as to how she will showcase her color as a soloist. She is also currently being showered with overwhelming support from fans on various social platforms.

Meanwhile, SM Entertainment also released their official statement regarding the news, saying, "Wendy is working with the goal of releasing a solo album in April. Please look forward to it."

Red Velvet Comeback Plans This 2021

Wendy, a member of the prominent K-pop girl group Red Velvet will be having her first comeback promotion since her stage accident this 2021 as well, according to an SME official.

In August last year, about eight months later, Wendy participated in the 20th-anniversary project "Our Beloved BoA." In January 2021, the quintet which comprised of Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri also appeared as a whole group on SMTOWN Live "Culture Humanity" online concert.

In November 2020, SM Entertainment CEO Lee Sung Soo confirmed the comeback plans saying, "There was a slight controversy that arose previously, but already conveyed our apology to that person and Red Velvet will be coming back with a more mature side soon. We hope a lot will show interest, anticipation, and support for the group."
