Red Velvet's Wendy on Her Solo Debut and Album

On April 5, Red Velvet's Wendy held a live broadcast of her press conference in light of her first solo album, "Like Water," which was hosted by fellow Red Velvet member Joy.

When asked about her thoughts on her solo debut, Wendy revealed that when she first heard of the album, she couldn't believe it. She added that while preparing for the album, she felt a sense of responsibility and sensibility, thus she did her best.

Wendy's first solo mini-album, "Like Water," contains five tracks, including the double title songs "Like Water" and "When This Rain Stops."

While listening to the highlights of the solo album, Wendy reveals that "Why Can't You Love Me?" is a song with a bright atmosphere but contains words that you would say to your unrequited love.

In addition, the mini-album has been worked on by hitmakers and musicians Yoo Young Jin and KENZIE, talented composer MinGtion, and producing team Coach & Sendo.

When asked about her song, "초행길 (The Road)," which is a modern rock ballad song, Wendy explained that it was the first song that she recorded while working on the album and that because she got greedy, she recorded the song a lot of times.

Wendy reveals that the final song of her mini-album, "Best Friend," which features fellow Red Velvet member Seulgi, was supposed to be a solo song but had asked Seulgi to sing it with her. "It was a song I [originally] sang by myself, but I asked Seulgi to sing it together. It's a song that expresses the gratitude of a best friend," Wendy said.

Joy confessed that when she heard the song, she cried due to the overwhelming feelings as she started to remember the time that had passed with the group.

The first title song, "When This Rain Stops," which is composed of Wendy's vocals and piano alone, took 15 hours to record, Wendy, confessed.

Her second title song, "Like Water," is a clean and clear ballad song that expresses how people need each other just as people need water. With the song, she wanted to include and show her gratitude to her fans for trusting and waiting for her.

Wendy also shared her thoughts and feelings on her first solo debut and said that while preparing for the album, she thought of her fellow Red Velvet members a lot, as well as the staff and her family who helped. She wanted to fully convey her feelings through the album.

Wendy revealed that the other Red Velvet members had sent a lot of support to the "Like Water" singer and that she was very grateful to the members who always cheered her on through texts and always asked about her progress on the album.

In addition, the Red Velvet member shares her hopes of being able to convey her feelings and empathy through her solo album and that fans are able to feel comfort and sympathy every time they listen to her songs.

In regards to her solo album activities, Wendy said that she doesn't want to do anything big as it is her first solo album since her debut. "I want to reach out to the public with my voice," she ends.

Wendy made her solo debut with her first mini-album, "Like Water," on April 5.
