f(x) Amber Remembers SHINee Jonghyun With Heartfelt Message for His Birthday
To celebrate the birthday of the late Jonghyun of SHINee, f(x) member Amber shared a heartfelt message for him on her Instagram account.

On Friday, Apr. 9, Amber shared a belated birthday greeting for the late Jonghyun, who would have turned 31 this Apr. 8, 2021. The former SM Entertainment artist shared a photo of her with Jonghyun on her Instagram account.
In the picture, the two are seen with their eyes closed, throwing peace signs.
Alongside the photo is the short yet heartfelt message that reads, "Thank you always, oppa. I still remember everything you have ever told me, oppa. Thank you."
The two idols were known for having a strong bond. Amber and Jonghyung were often called "SM Entertainment's Dinosaur Siblings," with Super Junior member Donghae being the third dinosaur sibling.
Additionally, when Amber debuted as a soloist with "Shake That Brass," Jonghyun was one of the SHINee members who cheered her on during her promotions.

SHINee Minho Remembers Jonghyun in Birthday Greeting
Amber is not the first idol to publicly post in remembrance of Jonghyun on their social media.
On Apr. 8, Minho took to his personal Instagram account to share a photo of him and Jonghyun during rehearsals for a concert. Alongside the photo included the captions, "Happy birthday to my J. To my hyung, happy birthday. I miss you always."
SHINee's official Instagram also shared a post to remember Jonghyun on his special day. The group shared a photo of Jonghyun during one of their concerts. The caption of the photo simply includes "04.08," referencing Jonghyun's birthday.

Shawols around the world took to Twitter to celebrate the Late Jonghyun's birthday. Fans trended the hashtags "#JONGHYUN," "#블링블링_종현아_생일축하해" (blingbling_jonghyun_happybirthday), "#happy_jjong_day" worldwide to celebrate the life of Jonghyun.

SHINee Jonghyun's Tragic Passing
On Dec. 2017, Jonghyun had rented an apartment in Gangnam, Seoul, for two days. After checking in on Dec. 18, his sister called emergency responders, saying she believed her brother intended to take his own life after he sent her several messages referencing a "last goodbye."
After years of struggling with fame and depression, Jonghyun was found unconscious in the apartment he rented. He was immediately brought to Konkun University Hospital and received emergency CPR treatment, as he was in a state of cardiac arrest. Sadly, Jonghyun failed to gain consciousness.
He had taken his own life by frying coal briquettes on a pan and inhaling the toxic fumes and smoke. Jonghyun passed away at 27 years old.
Following his death, Jonghyun's close friend Nine9 shared a suicide note that was sent to her two or three days before his final concert. The note detailed his struggles with depression and fame. She was advised to keep in touch with Jonghyun, and she has tried to help him, but stated that her help only delayed his passing instead of preventing it.
Jonghyun will always live in our hearts.
