Oscar Pistorius Family: In Eve Of Court Appearance, Blade Runner’s Family Says ‘We Fully Stand Behind Oscar’

The family of Oscar Pistorius recently released a statement saying, “As a family we fully stand behind Oscar as he prepares to appear in court this Tuesday,” reports the Associated Press.

The double-amputee athlete known as Blade Runner is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday for a short hearing before his murder trial.

It will be the first appearance of Oscar Pistorius in court since he was freed on bail February 22.

The statement from Oscar’s family also said, “We believe in him, love him and will support him every step of the way in what lies ahead. We continue to have great faith in the South African legal justice system and believe that Oscar’s account of what happened on that terrible night in February will be borne out by the evidence that the defence team will lead in court.”

The Olympian is charged with premeditated murder for the Feb. 14 death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

He has consistently denied the charge, telling police that he shot the 29-year-old supermodel by mistake thinking she was a burglar.

Last Friday, Sky News obtained exclusive images of the bloody bathroom where Steenkamp was shot three times.

The image showed a bloodied toilet cubicle where the blonde beauty was hit three times. There are also images of the toilet door with two police markers indicating bullet holes, according to Sky News.

Oscar Pistorius fired four times through the locked door, hitting Steenkamp with three of the bullets.

According to the Associated Press, Oscar Pistorius’ family was “shaken” by the “graphic” leaked images.

In a statement they said, “We were shaken by the graphic images, leaked into the public domain this week, of the accident scene at Oscar’s house."

“It has always been our plea that the legal process be allowed its run its course with integrity. The leaking of evidential material into the public domain before the court case does not advance this process.”

The South African police has not verified the images.

The Olympic runner told police that he got up in the middle of the night to bring in a fan from the balcony and claims he heard a noise in the pitch dark.

He said he picked up a gun he kept for security purposes and hobbled without his prosthetic legs to the bathroom, and fired repeatedly at the door.

It was only when he returned to his bedroom and realized Reeva was not there that he felt there had been a terrible accident.

Pistorius said, he then picked up a cricket bar, battered down the bathroom door and carried Reeva’s bloodied body downstairs.
