SHINee Taemin Announces Solo Comeback with 'Advice' Ahead of Military Enlistment

SHINee Taemin is set to make a solo comeback with a new album, "Advice," before his military enlistment at the end of May.

On April 19, the "Don't Calle Me" singer made a surprise announcement that he will begin his mandatory military service on May 31. Taemin is the last SHINee member to enlist. Prior to his military enlistment, he has prepared new music for the fans.

SHINee Taemin to Release "Advice" Album for Solo Comeback before Military Enlistment

On May 2, SHINee member Taemin conducted his solo online concert titled "Beyond Live: N.G.D.A (Never Gonna Dance Again), where he sang his solo hits. He even premiered his new title track "Advice" from his unreleased third mini-album of the same name.

During the online concert, Taemin also shared a teaser video for his solo comeback date, revealing that his "Advice" album will be dropped on May 18.

On May 3 at midnight KST, SHINee Taemin has uploaded an intriguing teaser image for his new album. The black and white photo shows chess pieces, one of which is a pawn that is covering one eye of the "Atlantis" singer, implying a mysterious concept.

The "Advice" album is reported to contain a total of five songs. It will mark Taemin's return as a solo artist in six months since the release of his third full-length album, "Never Gonna Dance Again."

The past few months have been a busy time for SHINee member Taemin as he has already made two comebacks with his bandmates - Minho, Onew, and Key. The "Princes of K-pop" launched their seventh studio album, "Don't Call Me," in February, which was followed by the repackaged version, "Atlantis," which came out this past April.

Meanwhile, Taemin's "Advice" album will be available for pre-order starting today, May 3, on various online and offline record stores.

SHINee Taemin's Solo Comeback with "Never Gonna Dance Again"

SHINee Taemin's latest comeback as a solo artist is with his third studio album, "Never Gonna Dance Again," which was released in two parts.

In September, the male idol dropped the first half of the album, titled "Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 1." It peaked at No. 1 on the weekly Gaon Album Chart following release.

Moreover, the album consists of nine songs including the title track "Criminal," which was recognized by numerous newspapers and magazines as one of the best K-pop songs in 2020. These include praises from Billboard, Dazed, Metro, and more. This single was also the most downloaded song on Gaon Chart, thus topping the digital download chart for the week of Sept. 6 to 12.

In November, the second half of Taemin's album was released. Titled "Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 2." The album contains the title track "Idea," along with eight more songs. "Idea" features vocals of labelmate BoA, and the music video for the song is considered one of the best K-pop MV in 2020 by Rolling Stone India.

On Dec. 14, SHINee Taemin's two albums were compiled and launched as a repackaged album entitled "Never Gonna Dance Again (Extended Ver.), featuring a total of 18 tracks.
