According to the group's agency, YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK's audio video for "Pretty Savage" had exceeded 100 million views on Youtube on May 1.

This feat came 211 days after the audio video was published. What's interesting is that it isn't common for videos containing only audio to achieve more than a hundred million views. Thus, making BLACKPINK the first girl group to do so.

"Pretty Savage," which is one of the songs in BLACKPINK's recent album, "THE ALBUM," competed with the group's "Lovesick Girls" as the title song candidate for their regular album.

The song, "Pretty Savage," was heavily loved by fans all around the world for its simple yet addictive rap, explosive drops and trap beats.

In addition, "Pretty Savage," which has been streamed for more than 145 million times on Spotify, has also garnered favorable reviews from critics. According to Billboard, "Pretty Savage" is counted as the best song of BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM."

This is a remarkable feat as various music streaming platforms, such as Youtube and Spotify, have become the mainstream and leading platforms that has led the changes in the music distribution and consumption market.

According to the results of the research on the "K-Contents Consumer Trends in the US Market," conducted by the Korea Creative Content Agency, Youtube and Spotify were selected as the main channels for listening to music. 

In addition, according to the "2020 Overseas Content Market Analysis," BLACKPINK is confirmed to be a global trend with their strong presence in major streaming platforms such as Youtube and Spotify.

BLACKPINK currently has more than 60.7 million Youtube subscribers and more than 14.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and are steadily rising.

BLACKPINK Receives First Nomination in the 2021 Billboard Music Awards

This year, BLACKPINK receives their first-ever nomination in the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. The group was nominated for Top Social Artist, alongside fellow K-Pop artists BTS and SEVENTEEN.

BLACKPINK was praised by Billboard in the past for the group's immense popularity, and even credited them for spreading the Hallyu wave all around the world. With three K-Pop groups nominated under one category, many are anticipating who will take the award.
