NCT DREAM Shares the Reason Why 'Hot Sauce' is Important to Them

NCT DREAM dropped their first full-length album, "Hot Sauce," back on May 10, KST. Since then, the album has been topping domestic and foreign charts left and right, only adding to the group's growing list of accomplishments in a span of less than three days.

However, the album means a lot more to the seven-member group. In an online press conference that was held just a few hours before the official release of "Hot Sauce" on May 10, NCT DREAM member, Renjun, said that Mark's return to the group had added more variety to their new album. "With Mark's return, we can now showcase seven different colors and more variety," said Renjun.

Although Mark left the group for a brief time, Renjun added that it didn't feel like he was completely gone.

Regarding their title track of the same name, "Hot Sauce," it is the first time the group has ever done such a genre - which is an Afrobeat hip-hop mix. Haechan said that NCT DREAM has so far been highlighting the group's youth. But with the new album, they can finally showcase just how much they have polished themselves.

Jaemin said that through "Hot Sauce," they try to show off their hot sauce-like charms that are enticing and addictive. He adds that for one of their tracks, "Rainbow," which features Mark, Jeno, Jisung, and Jaemin rapping, they reveal their hope of becoming a rainbow and begin writing a new page in their lives. "Before we worked on the rap, we roughly wrote down our thoughts about the album and the messages that we want to send," said Jaemin.

According to Jisung, it didn't take long for him to come up and write the lyrics because all he had to do was simply think of how they usually are.

Chenle, who chose "Rainbow" as his favorite song, said that he loves its melodies and the messages that it delivers.

Meanwhile, "Hot Sauce" is the group's first full-length album that features ten tracks with various genres, ranging from R&B to pop dance.

Describing it as an album full of "different flavors," according to Jeno," "Hot Sauce" includes the title song of the same name, which features an Afro-beat hip-hop mix; "Diggity" that is groovy; "Dive Into You" which brings out their sentimental side; an upbeat song, "My Youth;" "Rainbow," Rocket," "Countdown (3, 2, 1)," "ANL," "Irreplaceable," and "Be There For You."
