Why is aespa's "Next Level" Performance Stage Receiving Mixed Opinions?

On May 20, aespa uploaded a video titled "aespa 에스파 'Next Level' The Performance Stage #1" onto their official YouTube channel. As the song continues to rise on the charts, many South Korean viewers were excited to see the girl's performance.

However, many revealed they were left disappointed. Why?

While the viewers complimented aespa's visuals, singing, and efforts on stage, many agreed that the stage set-up was boring. aespa's performance did not make use of any props and relied on LED screens, which led fans to think that the stage felt too empty.

Others also thought the stage was too big for four members. Viewers also stated that though the members of aespa did well, the camera work did not give them justice.

Others thought that compared to how exciting the song is, the choreography is lackluster. Many believed that was another reason why the stage appeared "not fun."

Compared to the choreography for aespa's debut single, "Black Mamba," fans couldn't help but be disappointed over the boring choreography. "I was hopeful the dance would be good, but it was worse than I thought," one fan commented.

However, the members' skills were widely praised by the majority of the viewers. They complimented the girls of aespa for doing the best they could for their stage and said they danced well. While there were still some hates who slammed the girls for lip-syncing and for not dancing as well as they thought, most viewers complimented the girls' stage presence.
