BTS Breaks Record as 'Butter' Tops Billboard Hot 100 for its 6th Consecutive Week

On July 6 local time, Billboard announced this week's rankings for Hot 100 - a weekly ranking of the most popular songs in the United States - and topping the chart is none other than global phenomenon, BTS, once again!

BTS Breaks Record as "Butter" Tops Billboard Hot 100 for its 6th Consecutive Week

According to Billboard, BTS' recently released song, "Butter," had remained at the top for their sixth consecutive week on the week of July 10, breaking once again its own record for the longest-running No.1 song by any Asian act on the Hot 100 in Billboard history.

Notably, only one song by a group had previously topped the Hot 100 for weeks from its debut, which is Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's 1995 song, "One Sweet Day," which took the No. 1 spot on the chart for 14 consecutive weeks starting from the song's debut.

According to MRC Data, formerly known as Nielsen Music, "Butter" is the top-selling song of the week, with the song accumulating 11 million streams - an decrease of 11 percent, and 153,600 combined sales from downloads, vinyl, and cassette in the week ending on July 1 - seeing an increase of 20 percent.

"Butter" also saw an increase of 2 percent in radio airplay audience impressions, accumulating 28.3 million in the week ending on July 4.

Meanwhile, BTS released "Butter" back on May 21, and had also released the "Hotter" and "Cooler" remixes on May 28 and June 4, respectively.

BTS Drops Music Video Teaser for Upcoming Song "Permission to Dance"

The release of the highly-anticipated song of BTS and Ed Sheeran is drawing near!

On July 7 at midnight KST, BTS' label, Big Hit Music, dropped the teaser for the music video for their upcoming song "Permission to Dance," a song that was co-written by British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.

In the 33-second teaser, the seven BTS members are donning outfits reminiscent of the "wild wild west," featuring a desert as their background.

"Permission to Dance" will be released as part of the group's upcoming CD version of their hit digital single "Butter," which is slated to be released this coming July 9 at 1pm KST. The music video of "Permission to Dance" will also be released at the same time as the CD.

Meanwhile, the tracklist of the CD version includes "Butter," "Permission to Dance," and the instrumental versions of both songs.
